Good Morning!!!! 46 @ 6:30AM. Sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. High 77F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.
How do you suppose all that glue got everywhere, RS? Saw is really coming around nice.
Neat fence, Drew. How does it work for rabbits and squirrels?
When I was a kid I got a model kit of an XKE for my birthday one year. The thing was almost a foot and a half long. Glorious bright red. Wanted one ever since, the V12 one with the fender flares. But wantin' and havin' is two different things, as evidenced by the Camry in the driveway.
The house checkout was another trip to the loony bin yesterday. When the Zoom call started the realtor and my buddy were already in the house, and the realtor was whispering "There's somebody in the house here with us".

He walks into the master bedroom and there's this guy sprawled out on his back on the bed, all dressed up in gangsta knickers, tennis shoes, and untucked T shirt. Totally passed out. Realtor tries to wake him, then pokes him. Dead to the world, and it's 10:15AM. Goes to the next room and finds a little girl hiding under the covers on her bed. So we tiptoe around the house looking things over and find it to be clean and in good repair. Outside the grass, what little there is of it, is brilliant green and well cropped, the driveway short but unbroken, and the flower beds and shrubs well tended. And there's this loud rap music coming over the side fence from the neighbor's back yard. I can't hear it on the phone, but my buddy says it's pretty loud. Sticks his nose over the fence and it's another group of gangsta wanna bes hammering together what looks like wooden dog kennels. Natural conclusion is they're setting up to breed pit bulls. There goes the neighborhood. Sure was a sweet setup with the garages, though. With doors front and back, the main garage was all finished inside and painted a nice white for great visibility. The back garage was a bit smaller, but still good sized. Lots of concrete between and around would've made for plenty of parking space. Another couple show up to see the house and the realtor warns them there's somebody asleep in the house. They go in and almost immediately come back out, get in their car, and leave. My buddy and realtor get into his car, out of earshot, and describe what they've seen to me. Really nice house, but really bad vibe between the gang in the neighbor's back yard and the stoned out dude on the bed. Then a primer black Suburban rolls up in front of the house and another gangsta type steps out, drops his cigarette on the street, steps on it, and walks into the house like he owns the place. Probably does. Probably friends with the neighbor gang, too. He'd be gone if I bought that house, but the neighbor wouldn't be, and from the looks my buddy got from over the fence, he wouldn't be the kind of person I'd get along with very well. Best to find that out now rather than $600K later. I like the new realtor and how he showed great restraint and bravery in the more than awkward situation. He promised to try to find out WTF is going on with the place from the selling realtor, but it's going to take a heck of an explanation to rekindle any interest. And a substantial price cut.
The new lenses for my glasses were ready for pickup, so I used that as an excuse to drive the new car into town and put some more break in miles on it. Kept the RPM below 3K, no excessive speed, easy on the brakes, keep varying speed. That's the routine for the first 1000k, so says the owner's manual. Put it over the first hundred miles with the town run, so there's a long way to go and no hurry to get there. It's really nice to be able to see without all the scratches and pock marks in the way. And the way the trunk is shaped, the wheel wells kept the grocery bag in one place on the trip home. Still need to figure out how to disable the lane keeping function, but I did manage to turn off the warning dinger. Small victories. Celebrated by giving the thing a nice soapy bath, then smearing it with some
new fangled spray on wax that the
Project Farm guy found to be extremely tenacious. Says it's a ceramic something or other on the bottle, and it's from Turtle Wax. Paid three bux more for it at the local FLAPS than Amazon, but I didn't have to wait on UPS to deliver it. Went on easy, buffed off easy, and didn't leave any white haze or crust on the black trim. In fact, it's clear and OK to use on plastic, so I did the trim with it, too. And the wheels, as they're painted alloy. Took a couple hours and this morning my fingers and back aren't real happy, but I'll work out the kinks with another coat this afternoon. Which is supposed to last a year. We'll see.
Other than the wax job, not sure what's on the agenda for today. Probably clean the last remnants of debris off the back porch to get it out of the way of the construction crew that's supposed to show up tomorrow. Fingers crossed on that one.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their Easter weekend.
