One thing I forgot to mention is that the Kx33-4 use the diesel engine that does not need pollution controls which was why I did not go bigger when I got it. The complications of emissions crap they put on the diesels is something to avoid if you can.
I used to worry about the regeneration cycle on the
M62 when I first got it. Kubota uses a Diesel Particulate Filter on it, and all the regeneration cycle does is push extra fuel to the engine to raise the temperature in the DPF to burn off accumulated carbon. Turns out the only thing to worry about is being in tall, dry grass when it kicks in. Don't want those hot exhaust gasses starting a wildfire. The easiest thing to do is just work the tractor until the cycle is over. If it happens when I'm finished for the day, I just park it on the gravel and bump the idle up to 1500 RPM with the hand throttle and let the cycle complete. That's a little inconvenient, but I don't have to mess with putting the blue stuff into a reservoir. And FWIW, the backhoe came with a 24" bucket, and I purchased a 12" trenching bucket used from an outfit called
Hunt Tractor in Medford, Oregon. Saved enough to pay for the fuel it took to get up there and pick it up, but they said they could ship it for not much money. It was worth the trip just to see all the used attachments they had in their yard, and it took all the self discipline I could muster to keep my money in my pocket while I was there. It also turns out that the 'hoe on the
M62 uses the same buckets as the Kubota mini-exs. Changing is easy with just one screw in pin to remove and replace.
Spent some time looking into RAM ProMaster vans, and forwarded a copy of a custom build sheet to the local dealer. It's the same outfit I got the Camry from, and I'm wondering if I'll end up with the same salesman, which would not be a bad thing. Nothing but automated replies so far, though.
When the old porch cover took flight, it somehow broke the terminal posts off one of the outdoor speakers that were hanging on it. Fortunately, it left both speakers behind instead of smashing them to bits. But one was full of water when I found it, so I thought it was a goner. Well yesterday I found time to take it apart and learned that the water got in through the base port opening. And that the speaker cones are all plastic, and nothing was wrong inside the enclosure. So I just dried it out and put it back together, and found a pair of binder posts on Amazon to replace the broken ones. Enjoyed margaritas and some Van Morrison under the new porch cover last night with a neighbor, sitting next to a camp fire of wood scraps left by the contractor. Last weekend a buddie and I revisited an old time record store in San Luis Obispo, which is where I picked up a few new-to-me Van Morrison CDs, and others, for four to six bux a piece.
I also got a notice from Netflix that this would be their last season distributing DVDs through the mail. The last ones will go out in September, and from then on, they'll only offer streaming plans. Starlink came just in time.
Not sure what I'll get into today, but it could very well be some mowing. Last night I watched a deer lay down in the meadow, and all that showed above the grass there were its ears.
