One thing I forgot to mention is that the Kx33-4 use the diesel engine that does not need pollution controls which was why I did not go bigger when I got it. The complications of emissions crap they put on the diesels is something to avoid if you can.
A definite plus - my first car was a 75 Impala, with the massive 145hp 350CI V8… which had better tailpipe emissions when I removed all the emissions junk AND got far better mileage, with more power. Win/Win.

It is slow driving it to another location. That is the same for all mini x machines. If you need it further away you need to trailer it.
Wish it had longer boom reach which goes with wanting bigger machine. Somewhat difficult to climb into cab.
Use it to push over trees and dig up tree stumps and does that well. Again bigger machine would do it even better and faster. Also pick up piles and stumps and branches it does really well. Can lift long trees and transport lenghtwise without cutting up the tree.
Changed the thumb to one better for lifting trees. Have the regular digging bucket I think 18 inch and a 36 inch bucket. and that has worked well. Wish I had the swivel 36 inch bucket to ditch clean up. Wish it had the 6 way blade which is good for working slopes. Need more comments let me know
I am guessing the thumb has a more pronounced curve?

I do not see that option on my Mac pc
First make sure you're in the Finder with a window that shows the file you're trying to change. Click on the file name to select all the text in the file name, then click again which will select all the characters to the left of the peroid. Click once more to the right of the 'e' you want to delete to position the cursor in the text field . Then hit the delete key. Click outside the text field to save the change.

Yes the dealer put on an after market one that was straight and I made him change it to the Kubota thumb which has the curve in it. He was trying to put one over on me I think

Good Morning
It’s 52 with a forecast high of 72. High overcast now, rain late In the day.

Yesterday was another busy day. Spent more time than I should have with the self service fuel system at the airport. There isn’t much more that I can do at my end, I did discover the root of the connectivity issue and fixed it, but there seems to be issues on the application side which is a vendor issue. At any rate I was working on that when I should have been working on Drew’s motor home.
I got the customs paperwork for tomorrow’s Bahamas trip taken care of, trimmed a batch of low limbs with the pole saw, cleaned up the ensuing mess, chased the string trimmer around, and got things put away in time to do a little RC flying by the end of the day.

Not sure what I’ll get into today, but there seems to be no shortage of things to keep me occupied.

Thank you!

do you have hydraulic/manual QA? Or pin-on?

right now, I am not worried about a bigger machine, as my current excavator is the Mark I Model I Armstrong Earth Mover:

I have the pin on and it works really well for me. The cost of hydraulic was not worth it to me that being useful for commercial applications changing implements frequently

So I can save on that and get an additional bucket instead.

what size buckets do you use? I am thinking of a 12” and a 24”…

Coffee finished brewing. 43° with light rain this morning. Heading to 51° with more rain. Did not get to mower blades again. Did a lot of of planning for when better weather arrives. Did pull some Dandelions during a break in rain. More of the same today.
Will not be long and trees will be fully leafed out.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.
Ron- Thanks for sharing your squirrel picture. I believe our resident black squirrel became a bobcat's dinner. I saw one catch a red squirrel near our bird feeders a couple of weeks ago..

An overcast drizzly 43ºF for this morning's low temperature. It was an uneventful trip to the "Transfer Station." These conditions continue and it is now 44ºF. I expect these conditions to continue through the day with an afternoon high temperature ~70ºF with increasing chances for rain as the day progresses and then rain, rain, and rain which is really needed around here. It looks like next week will see daily rain showers until the weekend.
My game cam has been videoing turkeys, coy-wolf/dogs, foxes all Winter long and this week it videoed a bear, possum, and last night a porcupine in addition to the regular visitors.

I think if remembering right my digging bucket with teeth is 18 inches and works well for me. Going smaller will cause clay to plug it and be a pain. Smaller buckets are good for narrow excavations and ripping up tree roots but the 18 works for me. Bigger excavations is not a problem because with the blade you can backfill it in a minute.
The other bucket is 36 inch with no teeth and is very good for back dragging to smooth out excavations and digging in looser soils

I think most of us like to think we set fairly high standards, but
I always keep in mind Mickey Mantle. My childhood hero.
He only hit one out of three. So I knew early on things regularly don't go
as you want...but consistently do good work, and you can be a star.
Popgadget's my star, however with an rv with no tail light assembly, it is now parked.
With hopefully a brand new one on the way.

If I had scratched my paint or dented something, I would be next level annoyed.
Have to realize I don't have distance beepers on this thing. Likely able to retrofit.

have been looking on e-trailer web site, considering adding a steering stabilizer and small Sumo rubber springs in front.
Allegedly bolt on, no drilling, and not hard to do.
Rv has MorRyde upgrades but no doc on what you actually got. Probably better leaf spring shackles, probably a front sway bar, it has one, and maybe heavier duty shocks.
The problem with adding suspension upgrades to rv's is you immediately void the long term warranty as they specifically prohibit it, at least GulfStream does.
I'm sure the primary reason is to keep folks from overloading their rv. Which in reality is done all that time. They have to take a defensive posture assuming
their product will be abused.

But I now have a four year rv out of warranty so I can do what I want. I don't want more weight carrying capacity, am looking for better ride and handling.
I did this once before on a prior rv and had good results. Then I bought a more loaded rv and it had all this stuff standard. Now starting back over with a suspension stripper.
New tires and alignment accomplished. New flexible valve extenders nicely attached to wheel cover so no whipping around, no valve stem neck breaking again hopefully.
The brakes are fair and the handling is whale like at times.

E450 commercial chassis I guess is even less capable compared to their traditional F53 Class A gas motorhome chassis.
Unless you drive like a snail around curves, they all need some oem upgrades. The big name brands build it all in now.

This coming week I anticipate quite an influx of returning migratory birds. I have far too many picture that I have taken to ever share here, but I will share these 2 taken last month. The Barred Owl was just off our driveway and was very tolerant of the photoshoot from the truck.

Jay, I started a separate thread a while back here on Diabetes, since I'm trying to avoid it. Just crept up to 6.0 AIC
103 glucose, my endocrinologist told me not to be overly worried, I'm likely to get the treatment discussion when I see my primary in two weeks.
I think wait another six months and see if it stabilizes. A real love/hate affair with sweet things.
And bread, oh do I like bread.

great owl pics, one of my favorite birds.

If you can swing it the hydraulic 36 inch smooth bucket is very useful for slopes and ditch work. Backdracking it at an angel
Often wish I had that

Good morning, 66 going to 70 today with rain in the forecast for this afternoon

May be able to get a little mowing in before the rain.
Run to pick up meds and avocados on sale
Will likely go up to barn when rain starts and catch up on pending items waiting for me up there

Security briefing before Austria trip was heavily focussed on electronics and Russian aggressive snooping and getting access

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 6:00AM. Sunshine and a few afternoon clouds. High around 85F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.
Could be the warmest day of the year so far.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the Kx33-4 use the diesel engine that does not need pollution controls which was why I did not go bigger when I got it. The complications of emissions crap they put on the diesels is something to avoid if you can.

I used to worry about the regeneration cycle on the M62 when I first got it. Kubota uses a Diesel Particulate Filter on it, and all the regeneration cycle does is push extra fuel to the engine to raise the temperature in the DPF to burn off accumulated carbon. Turns out the only thing to worry about is being in tall, dry grass when it kicks in. Don't want those hot exhaust gasses starting a wildfire. The easiest thing to do is just work the tractor until the cycle is over. If it happens when I'm finished for the day, I just park it on the gravel and bump the idle up to 1500 RPM with the hand throttle and let the cycle complete. That's a little inconvenient, but I don't have to mess with putting the blue stuff into a reservoir. And FWIW, the backhoe came with a 24" bucket, and I purchased a 12" trenching bucket used from an outfit called Hunt Tractor in Medford, Oregon. Saved enough to pay for the fuel it took to get up there and pick it up, but they said they could ship it for not much money. It was worth the trip just to see all the used attachments they had in their yard, and it took all the self discipline I could muster to keep my money in my pocket while I was there. It also turns out that the 'hoe on the M62 uses the same buckets as the Kubota mini-exs. Changing is easy with just one screw in pin to remove and replace.

Spent some time looking into RAM ProMaster vans, and forwarded a copy of a custom build sheet to the local dealer. It's the same outfit I got the Camry from, and I'm wondering if I'll end up with the same salesman, which would not be a bad thing. Nothing but automated replies so far, though.

When the old porch cover took flight, it somehow broke the terminal posts off one of the outdoor speakers that were hanging on it. Fortunately, it left both speakers behind instead of smashing them to bits. But one was full of water when I found it, so I thought it was a goner. Well yesterday I found time to take it apart and learned that the water got in through the base port opening. And that the speaker cones are all plastic, and nothing was wrong inside the enclosure. So I just dried it out and put it back together, and found a pair of binder posts on Amazon to replace the broken ones. Enjoyed margaritas and some Van Morrison under the new porch cover last night with a neighbor, sitting next to a camp fire of wood scraps left by the contractor. Last weekend a buddie and I revisited an old time record store in San Luis Obispo, which is where I picked up a few new-to-me Van Morrison CDs, and others, for four to six bux a piece.

I also got a notice from Netflix that this would be their last season distributing DVDs through the mail. The last ones will go out in September, and from then on, they'll only offer streaming plans. Starlink came just in time.

Not sure what I'll get into today, but it could very well be some mowing. Last night I watched a deer lay down in the meadow, and all that showed above the grass there were its ears.

I wonder if you have a backup camera on the RV, Drew? One came standard on the Camry, and the lines it projects on the display have so far kept me out of trouble. I put one on the F250, too, which displays on the double DIN size radio I also installed, so maybe something like that would work for you, too.

Your A1C is great as well as your glucose level IMO. The past 10 years I've been running 6.3 - 6.5 which are great #'s for an insulin dependent diabetic. Last year I started running ~6.7 which freaked me out, but my PCP told me that for my age 6.7 is a "good" #. I do not have a sweet tooth; but I am a fat and grease addict. The martinis do not help. For all my "stuff" my bloodwork is really decent.

Thanks for the compliment for the owl pics. Bluejays tipped me off to its presence while I was drinking my coffee. I drove/coasted down the driveway in the truck. At 3 frames/second in "burst" mode I got quite a few pictures. The owl remained there for quite a while after I left and returned to my coffee.

I might over time post some Warbler pictures. I "captured" 7 different species; some of them considered "rare" last year.
