Good morning!!!!

Aches & Pains aside it reads this morning that all of us are moving around a little better.
I am slowly changing my outlook to be happy for what I can do versus what I can not do
It's not easy; I am "working on" this myself.

What a beautiful morning with clear skies and sun. I drug myself out on the deck early this AM and basked in the sun like a Galapagos Island marine iguana while enjoying my coffee. The morning low was 39ºF. Clouds have been mixing in as the day has progressed, but it is still mostly sunny. 64ºF ATM and 65ºF recorded earlier might become today's high temperature. It's been a great day just to putter about outside pretending to be productive.

I hope everyone is having a manageable day.

David,

If the parts you're going to be welding or practicing on are galvanized, beware of "Metal Fume Fever" ... and ensure you have plenty of ventilation.

Yup, thanks, practicing in open bay with plenty ventilation and actual post is outside. Way back to build the house I arch welded 11 brackets made from 4inch pipe coupler and large Simpson bracket - a lot of galvanized. This post fix will be less than a single bracket.

Got gasket sealer on OHV covers of husqvarna. Found I had a tube from rebuilding the transmission. Did return with Amazon for new tube I ordered, they credited me and said don’t even send it back.
Getting mower out of shed , I always look up.

It didn’t move until I was done with mower and looked again, and it was gone.

Only focus today is my gate fix. Just practice, practice, practice until I feel I can do a functional fix. Weather dependent of course.
If you're having trouble running a stringer bead, you can just put down a series of overlapping spot welds. That lets you see what you're doing between spots so you can position the gun in the right spot. It also lets the weld cool and solidify, very helpful if you're welding vertical, and especially over head. Just take your time, you'll get it...

I am slowly changing my outlook to be happy for what I can do versus what I can not do.

I couldn’t agree more. After my motorcycle accident, surviving wasn’t a certainty. The next obstacle was mobility and the use of my right arm.
I am keenly aware of the damage that was inflicted every time that I move. But I have taken to saying that I’m doing great, I’m not dead.

I appreciate that I am here and able to pretty much everything that I could before, even have my FAA 1st class medical certificate. So I’m not about to complain about what I can’t do, I’m pleased as punch with what I can do. And friends and family are quick to help with the things that I need help with.

Thanks, RNG. This is a pipe post 2 3/8 diameter. I think it will be a series of overlapping short runs as I’m challenged maintaining a consistent distance over about inch. Not overhead, the break is near ground level

(pic before cleanup & temp fix)
Also note I need to determine how to stablize my hand, especially the side away from the concrete.

Raining now, so practice, practice, practice.

OK, did have a pic of the temp fix

The exhaust connector inside, held in place with a couple screws. I can clean the surface rust well with wire brush. Get to use the concrete for stability for half.

Thanks Frits. What you see in the 2nd pic is not the actual break but new cuts. I even inverted the post top. There is an exhaust connector inserted between and I did flap sand all parts, that rust is strictly surface and will be addressed.
As for reenforcement I have some 1/2” steel angle and thinking I might add in 2 or 3 6inch lengths vertically.

I am also adding additional brace at top of post. Pic later.

When I took the BX to mow last week, my brake controller gave no indication of trailer braking. Looking at the 6 pin to 5 pin adapter I had to move + and blue wires to match the trailer. All turn signals and brake lights worked ok, but still no brake indication on the controller after moving blue wire to matching terminal. The + pin is not wired on the trailer. Guess I’ll be crawling under.
