Can I use this on my tractor?

When I was working in the Detroit area before I retired I was living in an apartment. My mechanic was also our company mechanic and lived 65 miles from me.

I couldn't do any work on my truck there so I drove to his place to do my own oil changes and grease job.

One time I parked my truck and walked to the house and I saw his wife in coveralls under her old truck. I said what are you doing under there, she said I'm changing the oil and greasing the truck.

I said your husband is a mechanic, why are you doing it, he told her it was her truck and her job to do it.

She was sort of petite, just over 5 feet. I couldn't believe he had her doing that. They got along really good.

This is a true story, I still think about it sometimes and laugh.

Why not? It will become instantly air cooled as all the coolant will be on the shop floor.

That's my wife...but she's 5-10. Loves working on things and extremely good. She's built a few engines (seriously). Not just install a camshaft but degree it in, modify a distributor, loves Holleys. It's ok with me.

Most engines today are 'interference' fit, that is, if the timing chain or belt fails, the valves impact the pistons and the motor is junk. Planned obsolence.

A interference fit is when the part going into the hole is larger than the hole. Depending on the level (amount) of interference, a engine with interference fit may not even crank.

That term is used to denote when the valves hit the top of the pistons as well and that happens when the valve timing gets wonky due to a failure of the belt or chain. Not all engines have that issue however. It can also happen when the engine becomes so loaded with sludge, the valves cannot retract and hit the pistons. Not an issue with me as I change the oil in a timely manner and I use a Nano Borate additive which keeps the interior of any engine sludge free.

Smart couple. She understands what he does for a living better, and he's taught her some self-sufficiency.

Me: "Hang-on.... I'm going to get 2 buckets of popcorn, but probably won't even get halfway through the second one...."

I tried to teach my kids basic life survival skills. My daughter was upset when she didn't get a tool set for Christmas (she got it for her birthday a month later).

She also "knew" what was going to happen for her driver's ed homework assignment. She was supposed to "talk" with her dad about how to change a tire. I made her remove a tire, roll it around the car (so the holes wouldn't line up), and then put it back on. I impressed upon her that now she knows she is capable of changing her own tire. I told her I would much rather have her in the process of changing a tire with a lug wrench (weapon) in her hand, then sitting helpless beside the road.

Just started teaching letting my almost 12 yr old stepson learn to drive on my old 5 speed driving me around on our 15 acre homestead wearing seatbelts at 5-10 mph with me riding shotgun obviously. So far so good. Subject to deletion if cps becomes involved.

Best way, both my kids learned the basic on property. My youngest was driving the trash truck around the camp loop at 12, idle from spot to spot with me throwing in bags. Of course all had off road vehicles well before that and could steer and brake.
