David, here is the picture of picking up the pole. I will use you suggestion using a rope to tie it on

Ouch, can see your problem. What I was suggesting was a loose hitch that when lifted would allow post to hang close to vertical and when let go would be loose enough to remove. Good luck.

Good (Monday) morning... and happy BD to Fritz from waaaaay down South. The overnight Low was -1.2C and it's currently 14.6C, clear & calm.

Honestly, there's not much happening for me. Just enjoying my blissful retirement, doing what needs done as it happens.

I'm glad that Drew's tools didn't go walkabout.

That's about it, take care all.

Good evening all. 67ºF for the start, mostly cloudy, light breeze. Moderate wind with some brisk gusts, Sky clouded up, had rain forecast over .6 inch in forecast. That rain evaporated, and high temp of 83ºF, HI 90ºF. Chapel to start day, then made pancakes for breakfast. Light puttering, got boat ready for tomorrow, put 5 gal gas in tank, have to work on trailer bunks, on of the bolts does no stay in the 2X4. Tomorrow is carp shocking, last time was fish survey, main emphasis was measuring and weighing largemouth bass, this time will be carp removal. We are getting better results from fish spawn, carp had been eating a lot of the fish eggs.
Don sorry about the humidity. Glad you made it through the driver shuffle. Never heard of people getting attacked by turkeys, glad you did not. What kind of snake is that?

A pleasant 63F and partly cloudy @ 23:30, heading down to around 55F for the overnight low.

Got the wings welded onto the pallet forks:

Then pulled the locking tab for the right fork that had gotten bent somehow or another:

Fired up the rosebud and got it red hot and beat it back more or less straight where it was supposed to be, then reinstalled it:

Fork should stay where it's put a little better now ... ;)

After that I welded the wings onto the shrub/stump bucket:

Two down, two still to go ...

Short day, but at least got a little bit that was worthwhile accomplished.

Hope everyone had a good Sunday ... (y)

Mostly, Happy with practice results? Guess that would be relative. I still have a long way to go. Someday….
That said, my results weren’t pretty, but I’m confident they are pretty functional. Lot of grinding with the flap disk. In addition to the weld at the break I added 2 pieces of angle iron as reenforcement. Feels very solid and no visible deflection in use with full weight of the 12 ft gate. I suppose some day, when I have better skills I could revisit, grind it down and pretty it up. Or just wait until it needs attention - most likely.

Now that welder is back operational and I have space to use it I do have some projects which will give me more practice. Not that I will likely be posting up close pics of the welds. Already confident I can win the ugly weld contest.

Been on free trial of Youtube TV last few days fed via Starlink. Converting from Dish will save over $90/month (almost pay for Starlink). So far it has performed quite well, no weather clitches etc. a bit challenging getting use to menu. As we are used to using 2 remotes, I ordered a 2nd TV remote from Amazon for the Sony which is our newest and a smart TV. Our other TV that we watch is about 16 years old, not a smart TV, whole different learning curve as access will be via AppleTV. If anyone here has any hints/suggestions re Youtube TV…
Gotta love learning new things at such a tender age.
