good morning all
looks like a warm day throughout the East, going to be 81 here too in full sun.
still waking up, coffee going down nicely
RS, your place looks great.
Thanks.
I'd like to think that it's coming along.
Still a long ways to go.
I'm interested in your steering wheel Z turn. Are you still happy with it?
Generally speaking, yes.
Very happy with the quality and fit and finish for the most part, seems very well constructed and it appears that Cub is making a sincere effort to be a player in the commercial segment.
I like the fact that they added an accessory mount for the engine oil filter, putting it up high at the right front of the motor where it's easy to reach, remove, and replace. Only issue with that is you have to stick a rag under it when changing it out to avoid drips and spilling oil. Might explore repositioning it to minimize that.
Can't say enough good about the Marbain blades, which are very hard and seem to stay sharp forever:
Marbain® - The Hardest, Longest Lasting Material - Fisher Barton
Bought a second set so I could have them to swap out when the blades did become dull.
Think we went one year and then changed out the blades because I thought they might need sharpened. After getting them off and having a look, I was surprised at how sharp they still were. Still running the second set going into the 3rd year and it still seems to be cutting fine.
Really the only issues have been:
1. the one time I popped the drive belt off while mowing around the big maple up behind the shop which had a lot of exposed roots, and ...
2. the electrical connection with the fuel pump ... which I consider is likely just a glitch.
Might be related to the one time we washed it off. Manual is very specific to only wash the underside of the deck and not to get any other part of the machine wet.
We tried to keep the bath mostly confined to the lower parts of the machine but could have had some splashing ...
Deck really throws the cut grass out so that it spreads and doesn't clump ... assuming you keep the deck reasonably clean.
you're pretty flat there, so the advantages of front steering on mower on slopes not needed
Yes mostly flat ... except for the east side of the house, where the ground is fairly steep.
Steep enough that I don't really like to travel across it with the
B2910.
I wonder if those front tires will wear out fairly quickly
overall seems like a great invention,
After 2 years and 400+ hours no indication that they will ... at least so far.
and if power steering, even better.
Yes, that's my only real regret ... not going up one series to Pro Z 500 to get the power steering.
Without power steering the front wheels - which are wide and fat - are hard to turn if the machine is not rolling.
Not too big a deal for me - I just make sure it's rolling before I turn the steering wheel ...

- but The Woman complains about it as it's very hard for Her with Her arthritis.
I tried to get Her to get on the machine and run it at the dealer's before we made the purchase but She wouldn't do it. We are both still kicking ourselves over that oversight ...
Glad the ant trap is working well ...
