69F and sunny @ 12:00, calling for a high of 74F.

Total rainfall yesterday was 0.41".

That will keep things greened up and growing ... which is a bit of mixed bag (saves having to water the plants, but could stand to not have to cut the grass so much)

Snuck up to the shop last night after Woman went to bed and got wings welded on the grapple:

IMG_2584 copy.jpg

It needs some addition repairs and modifications to reinforce it, but those will have to wait till later for a rainy day ... after I have the shop straightened up/cleared out.

Will get that moved out of the shop today so I can put the Light Material bucket in there and get the wings welded on it some evening.

Otherwise, agenda for today will include:

Refill hopper feeder.

Check mealworm feeder and refill it if needed.

Mow down here around the house.

Gather up all the chains that are floating around and see if I have enough length to safely pull down the several dead ash trees that have broken off at the base but are still standing, leaning up against the maples.

Finish cleaning cab of van.

Bring live trap over from barn for that 'coon that keeps showing up at the feeders.

Maybe get some mulch spread.

Plus whatever else come up.

Hope everyone has a happy Mother's Day ... (y)

Anti-seize is your friend here. I applied it after beating off the rotors so next time hopefully good

Yup ... (y)

Would have to check my maintenance logs to be sure but I'm pretty certain I did the anti-seize on the mating surfaces last time I had the rotors off on the Sprinter. Always do it on the threads.

Know for sure I did it on the Passat (alloy wheels)

One thing I did run into with wheel bolts on the Passat, which probably applies to any other vehicle as well, is that the threads aren't the only place that they will seize.

The mating surface where the bolts contact the rim can also be problematic ... ;)

At any rate I did get a good look at the front brake pads yesterday up at Discount Tire while they had the wheels off: 50% or better left ... (y)

“Tow dig trees” are “two fig trees” after Autokowrecked sneaks in and edits my text without me realizing it 🤬 before hitting Post reply…

One of these days I’m going to post what’s on the screen, which isn’t usually what I type.

Taking mom to brunch up in Pigeon Forge today,— but we refuse to go to Asheville since they got so stupid there and it has become too dangerous.
!

Didn’t realize you was in that part of NC. Went thru Asheville a month or so ago. Roads were terrible and so was traffic.

Good morning, (late) easy day, 73 now likely the high for the day. Mothers day

But did get the oil and filter changed on the engine on the RTV using work arounds to save the shoulder for strain. The regular oil filter wrench could not get on without full use of both hands since it has to pushed past a hose. (Kubota at its best) but was able to find some alternative oil filter wrenches that I forgot I had. The skid plate was also a challenge but held it with shoulder while getting the screws threaded. The small Bosch impact worked great for this
The Milwaukee hood light works good on the loadbed and lights up the engine bay pretty good.

Ken, the tree shelters are best when removed but if not they split pretty easily

74° and sunny.
Worship went well. My son led singing for 2nd time at morning worship.
Went to local place for Mother’s Day meal. I got rack of ribs and they disappeared.
Glad to see everyone well and productive. Well, except Drew’s old neighbor. I remember all the tells. Drew, you did good trying to help him. Some people just refuse to be helped. Here’s current google view of his mess

I don't do it on the threads because it can distort the torque settings. Just clean off rust and check with torque wrench

Good Day.
It was under 50 when I got up, 68 now and will likely top 70.
A beautiful day out there.
Yesterday was slow moving, but stayed occupied.
I turned off the power to the rack with the hard drive recorder without stopping the recorder on Friday night. That left the drive unreadable, even though it did record 24 tracks. So as a project, I created a new header for the drive to to make it readable and recovered the tracks. It was only a practice, the recording was not really important, but it was a good exercise.
That took way longer than it was worth, but it was a good learning experience.

Noticed the the tail wheel was missing on my RC cub, looked out on the runway, but didn’t find it. So today I dug through my parts and found some music wire and a wheel, and made a crude replacement.

Took Zoe for a walk to the pond, where she got all muddy, discovered afterwards that squirting her with the hose spooked her.

Walked her onto the scale in the barn, she was 82lbs at 6-1/2 months. She looks the part of an adult, but has the impulse control of a toddler.
