Bear attack in AZ

There was a case where a bear shot multiple times with a 38 pistol and it went in a rampage.

Who the hell gave a bear a pistol to begin with, he must have been given speed loaders as well, I can’t imagine trying to tactical reload individual rounds with those big paws, that’s probably what put him into the subsequent rampage.

Combine that with bears in city limits and police say non domesticated refered to game Warden down the mountain and only voice mail nights and weekends.

Police say service weapons just make the bear mad??!

Homeowners thinking they can shoot a bear inside their home greatly underestimate the danger...

So... if a bear was shot in the head with a bolt action military 306 would it go down?

Most service weapons (handguns) the police use are not suitable to kill any large animal quickly.
As for military 306 I assume you mean 308 or 30-06 either way the military uses FMJ ammo which again is not legal to be used by hunters. FMJ does not expand and just punches a hole. Hunting ammo is designed with a soft point to allow the jacket and underlying material (lead or similar) to expand and create a more extensive wound channel.
All that said I've had deer run over 100 yards after taking a 30 cal round through both lungs and explode the heart. A bear may well use that time to disassemble the shooter if in range. Few people could chamber another round in bolt action in the time it takes a bear to cover 40 yards.
Head shots "may" be instant or in case of my recent experience with a large determined steer maybe not. He took 9 rounds of 40 S&W into the forehead before staying down and covered a couple of miles while those shots were administered. All at closer than "safe" distances. Took 2 from muzzle almost touching for him to quit getting up after he all ready had 7 holes in his head. This was out of 16" carbine not a pistol.
Normally that 40 does the job with out over penetrating like a 308...... I will have the 35 rem on hand for the next one just in case....

Hahaha...A&W and DQ were the only 'chain' restaurants in my hometown. The DQ dropped the franchise before I finished HS.

Glad someone got that bear. Took me years of therapy to feel comfortable eating a burger without looking over my shoulder.

Interesting. It looks like most are in the western mountainous areas. The small dots must be rare sightings of some dispersed individuals?

That what the gov says. Been seeing them or signs on regular basis here in the Ozarks....Just passing through like the bears....

Those are an entirely different type of bear, I refer you to the above comment re eating while looking back over your shoulder…. They’re more docile and less dangerous but I’d still sit on my ass and keep my mouth shut while around them if you catch my hint !

The big ones have the wow factor but the little ones are the deadliest.
Moved into Southern Pacific rattlesnake territory from Mojave Green territory.
There are more of these southerners but I refer them. The Mojave will follow you around the yard to get a bite.
