No..I did not see any messages on the dashboard related to service being needed
I just assumed there was an initial 50 hour service for your model to change the filters and engine oil.

I have an old school bota with analogue dash. Do the new ones give reminders for service? Or do you still have to read the manual and take some responsibility for servicing the machine at the prescribed intervals?

You agreed to purchase insurance and cover the burned tractor. Paragraph 6 of the contract you signed with Kubota financial. The dealer provided a repair quote that they believe you will be filing a claim with the insurance company that you represented to them that you have coverage for the tractor. You've put yourself in a box in this situation.

You have since purchased another tractor from them if I recall in this thread that you said you also financed. If that is the case again you've agreed to purchase insurance on the collateral they are loaning you money to buy.

I'd suggest you dig out your contract and read it over. Attached is the section discussing insurance. You are currently in default on the burned tractor. They will find out sooner or later.
So if I had purchased the tractor "cash" how would that work in terms of warranty. My insurance company said they would "pay" and then fight the claim.

The parts list to replace is long! not sure why the ECU/starter/bonnet and lots of items are even needed. 45hours does not seem like a big job.

Did you read maintenance section of owners manual?
I usually but even my z turn mower blinks at first 50hr for oil/change.

I would not expect a diesel machine to need dealer service at 50hr,

Warranty is the same regardless. Did a defect in material or workmanship that is covered under the warranty cause the fire? Or was it dry grass, or a rat chewed wire. Who knows other than oxygen, heat and fuel found the right mix and it burned.

Regardless of any of that you are on the hook for paying off the burned tractor. Once that is settled you can figure out how to eat this turd sandwich. Either sell it off as salvage or repair it in which case yes you can probably get it running for less than the current quote. You have to keep in mind the dealer is quoting the kitchen sink because they expect pushback from your insurance adjuster which isn't going to happen since it is not insured.

Dont confuse insurance with warranty. And that is the difference between cash sale and finance.

Warranty is breakage or mechanical defect, etc. Just like your cars warranty.

Insurance is for accidents.....again.....just like car warranty.

So if your transmission breaks, or loader, or some mechanical failure that is NOT your fault.....thats warranty.
IF you roll it down a hill, drive it in a lake....thats NOT warranty because that is no fault of the manufacture.....only your own.

So now the question becomes why the fire happened. IF it was neglect on your part.....not keeping debris clean, or a mouse chewing wiring, etc.....well thats not a warranty claim.

The reason you NEED insurance when you take a loan is to protect the collateral of the lien holder. This is a perfect case. You owe 40 payments out of 48.....so you still owe 90% of what the tractor costs.....YET its only worth 5%. Easy for you to just walk away and say "screw kubota" Im not paying. Now they are left with you owing them $50k on a machine worth $3k in scrap.

Hence the need for insurance. They want to protect THEMSELVES so you dont default.

Now if you paid cash....they are already whole and dont give a rats @$$ whether you fix the tractor or not.

But onto your insurance....they say they will cover it and fight....

So "what" coverage do you have on the tractor? Are you covered under your homeowners somehow that you were unaware of? OR some umbrella policy?

IF they are gonna cover you.....let them. Let it be between kubota and the insurance and STAY OUT of it. Dont make things worse on yourself. Because whether its covered under warranty vs insurance is all gonna come down to the cause of the fire as mentioned. IF the MFG had wires routed wrong and they shorted....or a fuse failed to protect something, or similar MFG defect....then a case can be made. But how much time/effort is your insurance gonna put into trying to prove their case.

But since your insurance company is saying they will pay and fight.....simply tells me you DO have coverage on the machine. Because trust me.....the insurance company isnt doing this out of the goodness of their hearts or to just help you out. IT clearly must be you DO have coverage and they KNOW they have to pay up. So they will do what they do best....and thats try and find a reason to have someone ELSE take the blame. In this case....kubota warranty.

Like someone above said was it your fault for letting it catch fire because of varmint damage or debris and dry grass or is it Kubotas fault for something like a fuel leak? Can that be proven either way? Tough situation and not a cheap tractor to just write off.

That's just an estimate to replace everything they could think of. It's not a serious estimate to repair it.

I estimated vehicles for 30 years, any insurance company I dealt with, would have laughed, and threw that estimate away. But, the automotive side is well equipped to handle claims, and the vast majority are routine repairs.

When you have a claim on farm/construction equipment, how easy it is, is going to depend a lot on who they send out to do the damage appraisal.

Usually an insurance company doesn't have anyone on staff who can do this, so they would hire an independent appraiser, who specializes in equipment.

Sometimes, they can't get anyone to look at it, and they will try to make you do the work for them, by getting a bunch of estimates.
I would tell them you're too busy, and you intend to have it fixed at, (insert name of shop here). That's where it's going to be, and they need to get together with them, and work out the price.

There is a substantial amount of money involved in this, so I would think they will not just pay any crazy estimate, to make it all go away. but, you never know.
