There are at least 20 ranches in Texas that are well over 100k acres.

You might want to double check the source of your number there. It is more like 990,000 acres. Six of the my nearest neighbors are ranches over 100,000 acres. One of them is over a million acres, so yes, bigger than Rhode Island. (They have rights to over another 1.5M acres.)

My German architect friend asked if California homes att built to burn?

He said standard residential construction there is filled concrete block with concrete ceilings and floors and roll down fire rated security doors over windows and concrete for steps and balcony…

Only thing to burn is the timber rafters supporting clay tile roofs and if they do the damage tends to be just the roof framing.

I did say wood frame tends to do better seismically.

I don't know about all of that, but RI is only about 25 miles across. The DFW metroplex is much bigger. I have driven across both. If it were up to me, MA, CT and RI would all be one state. It will never happen, but a guy needs a dream.

Ted Turner owns three ranches in my state that collectively total just over a million acres. The largest one is a continuous block of 600,000 acres (Vermejo Park Ranch near Colorado border). He has his own forestry program, hunting and fishing guide service, and dozens of oil wells on the ranch.

Though can not confirm
that presently, Canada's acreage fire loss is at a 25 year LOW.

But when the borate bombers are making passes over your house, and the flames are raising 30 feet above the eucalyptus in your front yard, it doesn't matter what else is burning. BTDT. Wife and I moved out, two years later, the entire neighborhood burned .

How big is Canada wildfire?


The 10.2 million hectares of burned land compare to a recent average of just 1.4 million and already represent the worst wildfire season on record - a period which stretches from May to September. For context, the whole of South Korea covers an area of 10 million hectares.

As of its most recent update, the interagency fire center has recorded 4,241 wildfires since the beginning of 2023. The fires have scorched at least 11 million hectares — or over 27.1 million acres — of land across Canada this year. In June, the acreage burned this year surpassed the amount of land burned in 1989, which previously held Canada's annual record, the country's National Forestry Database reported.
