Hear that everyday and im sure half the time it's ordering screw up... other times it's just on allocation and not much can be done except try alternates.
Drugs are crazy now...order fentanyl and only 10% ships with the rest in back order allocation.
Of course there is always some available through alternate off contract pricing that may be many times the contract price.
I've found ordering ahead for critical items a godsend...
So much for just in time theory and lowering inventory costs which was taking over industry not all that long ago!
Kind of like my dealership friend waiting for ordered vehicles to arrive sitting in a storage yard waiting for a chip or board to be able to deliver a 99.999% finished vehicle...
