Doorman’s next big adventure

I've heard that reason, but I want to be able to see out when I'm in the shop if someone comes by and when I walk out of the house into the garage I want to see if anything or anyone is out there.
Heck much of the time the days are wide open if the weather is half as**d decent.

I choose to have 4 skylight fiberglass panels installed in the roof of my shop. I highly recommend them as I rarely turn on interior lights, even on very cloudy days. I was told they should last 10-12 years (UV) but replacing them is simple.

We have them up high in the wall in our other building. This building h is s fully insulated…..panels wouldn’t be the best choice.

I have mixed feelings on work benches. Unless you are really disciplined they always seem to collect "important" stuff. I've kind of decided no more permanent work benches for me. I'd like to try a small portable steel workbench with a vice on it. Then I can move it to where I need it and remove the 18' workbench in my shop and install storage cabinets instead. All the tools can go in there and I can just pull out what I need. It would be a considerably more efficient use of space as I have a small shop.

I know workbench is synonymous with junk pile……

Having a fixed place for storage/tinkering/etc keeps me from having **** strewn everywhere!

I also enjoy building stuff……a free 14’ workbench is hard to say no too.

This is the “workbench” my wife wants.

Castors are my friends, along with a nice smooth concrete floor. Workbenches on 5-6” wheels and various rolling tool carts/caddies.
