Good Lord, I hesitate to wonder what would be the result for Australians...

Tassie has the 'running joke' about being inbred (which I know that every where in the world has an 'area' that this applies to). It's true that, historically, Tasmania/Van Diemen's Land suffered a high percentage of birth defects up until the 1920/30's when it was discovered that our soil was deficient in iodine... once that element was added to the diet the defects cleared up.

Actually, although the Pendleton company is headquartered in Portland Oregon, the textile mills are in Washington.

Grandpa occasionally mentioned that his (NorCal) wool went to the Pendleton mill in Pendleton Oregon. Their wool shirts were favorite family Christmas presents leading to storytelling when I was little. Their 'car robes' (small blankets intended for unheated open cars a century ago) are now family heirlooms, still look great.

I can't think of anything that better illustrates present day 'Oregonian' than Portland hipsters dressed in $1k(?) of Pendleton wool!
