I guess you're supposed to ram the spear through the T post and lift it out?

This time of the year, my red clay is extremely hard. I have a manual T Post puller thing that works great in the Spring, but pretty much useless right now. I don't have to remove the T posts right now, and I probably wont bother for another week or two. I'm putting in new T posts this weekend, and there are about a hundred of the old T posts that I need to remove one of these days.

Enough with this silly tractor attachment talk.

You should be able to get one of those little jack devices, that are made for that job, for under $40 from Northern tool or someplace like that. They are much faster and easier than using a tractor for that job.

It’s almost easier to lift a post with that little jack handle than it is to turn the steering wheel on a tractor with power steering. The big time saving comes from not needing to maneuver the tractor over the posts.

I put in a lot of snow fence with t-posts and a pile driver every fall and pull them every spring with one of those post jacks. Pulling them is always a cakewalk compared to putting them in.
We must have very different soil.

My dirt is mushy in the spring, but pretty hard by late summer. It would be a pain to drive posts right now.

I've never had that many T-posts to pull. Maybe a dozen - at most. So I've always used a chain - hanging off the side of the bucket.

bcp's idea of a vertical pipe on the side of the bucket sounds good. Just the right price too.

Another weekend and I didn't get around to pulling any t posts. I did manage to install 4 rolls of wire fencing for another 800 feet over the weekend instead. With the recent rain that we've received, I'm going to try the manual fence puller first. If not, I'll probably just wrap a chain around them and pull a few at a time, when I have the time. I've lost interest in fabricating anything.

I really like being able to adjust the top and bottom tension this way. If I have a lot of slack in the fence, I will pull it right with the tractor, and then finish it off with the come alongs
