Brown Snot in diesel fuel?

That happened years ago when I had an oil furnace. I couldn't believe anything living could live in fuel oil or diesel!

I just went through the same thing on a friend’s tractor I was working on. I attempted to remove the tank to do a proper cleaning but I came to the conclusion it was impossible without dissembling the dash and that was too much work. A fuel filter was only $6.50 so I just put it back together. Hopefully it doesn’t prove to much aggravation with stopping up filters.

OP, if you put an 'inspection camera' down into your tank the biological growth will be at the bottom and will look like fairy-floss (cotton-candy) mixed with phlegm.

Yeah Mate, you'll need to drain the diesel tank (and dispose of that fuel), then pour in at least 5liters (or a US Gallon) of diesel biological treatment (ship chandler can get it for you) and let that sit for at least 24hrs. Change the fuel filter.

Then drain the tank and, using a long 'grabber' and CHUX (J-Cloth) wipe the inside of the tank until there's no more crud coming out.

You can then re-fill with fresh diesel WITH a regular sized biological treatment. Add this treatment every time you fuel your tractor.

Depending on the treatment you purchase, you may need to change the fuel filter a few times in the future to ensure that the dead biological residue, that's present in the lines, doesn't clog it up.

Good luck.

Plugs up an oil burner nozzle fast too.
I was always cleaning and replacing burner nozzles, usually at 2 a.m. in January. I checked for transformer spark with a screwdriver once...Once. It backfired and wife said I looked like Al Jolson. It took a long time for my eyebrows and beard to grow back...my hair never did.

Go buy some Biocide and a couple of fuel filters..
Once the biocide does it’s thing, the “husks” will clog ur filter.. easily noted by a drop in rpm..

When you add the new fuel and your afraid that some water
just might still be some in your tank toss in a can of HEAT it
will take care of the water. Truckers use is a lot!

This is my plan. Thanks.

I would drain the tank and wash it out then start with fresh fuel and biocide...been there done that....if you have a surplus tank it needs to be treated as well..

The last thing you want is for any to make it past a filter into a injection pump or injectors..
