My brother told his kids they better have scholarships to pay for college and they all did.

They are all pretty savvy on money having a dad that is self employed.
I have two sons that are both college graduates. Both received the standard in-state tuition waiver (NM offers free tuition to in-state HS graduates, providing they maintain a certain GPA. Paid by lottery revenues and oil/gas royalties). One also received additional scholarships for other expenses, the other enlisted in the Marines as a reservist for additional funding.

Nothing educates you more on money, cash flow, economics and government regulations than being self employed.

No classroom can come close.

How's this for Market Watch........my local fuel station has raised the price of diesel 50 cents in the last couple days.....now at 4.70/gallon.

Geeze,
Mike

Seems odd because diesel is always high here in WV and a month ago it was $4.30, today it was $4.25.

It can be bought for $3.95 at a few places near me, but most are in the $4.20 range.

Speaking of Market Watch, I am behind the eight ball here fellas. My apologies.

Here is the Quarter 3 Compact Tractor Sales Report

Sales for 2WD under 40 hp tractors finished Q3 2023 down in the double digits as has been the trend all year. For this year, January through September, two-wheel-drive under 40hp tractor sales are down 11.2% compared to the same nine months in 2022. In actual numbers that is 15,774 fewer tractors that were sold this year for this category.

Sales for 2WD sub-40 hp tractors in September 2023 were down 7.2% from September 2022, with 12,624 sales this year, and 13,607 last year. That is 983 fewer tractors that were sold last month compared to September of last year.

Here is some additional commentary from Mike:

These are the times when you should be happy for what you own, or what you financed at much lower rates years ago.
We live in extremely difficult times now, especially to try to do business in.

So true. But - I guess no matter the economic times its always a good thing to be happy for what you have v worrying about what others have.

I’m actually surprised that 2wd under 40hp tractors are even made and sold anymore. I wouldn’t think that they would be a popular sales item.

Yes… corp now hires Chemists to Dumpster Dive sorting the waste stream.

The single drop of blood or tossing a sanitizizing wipe or a used felt tipped Sharpie pen will be written up.

Any 4wd that is NON ARTICULATED is considered 2wd. 4wd assist, is still considered 2wd in these stats. So, your Kubota, is in the 2wd sector, as is my TYM/Branson

Desires and needs... a car can be many things to different people but point A to B is number 1 to 99.9% in my view.

I just replaced some decking and the materials cost more than just about any car I have bought... old deck only 15 years old but Western Washington is not kind when it comes to longevity and wood so I went with a Trex type with cable rail and anodized stanchions hoping for one more and done...

Trex could be the cheapest long term solution since we don't know what the future cost of PT will be. We are in a situation similar to the late 1970s when it made sense to buy today before the price could go up further tomorrow.

It does look nice and the stainless steel cables improve the view a lot…

It’s just hard spending 15k on a repair when my first hose cost $11,500…

The kick in the teeth is that these prices were self inflicted by years of overspending and money supply creation. Last night, I was wondering if there would be a way to convert USD into some other currency that is more stable and still be able to pay my bills with the other currency?

Some countries regularly do a currency reset and my foreign visitors have been amazed that very old US paper money is still valid…

Good luck. The US Dollar is the world currency for a reason.

I keep hearing buy gold…

Just my luck if I bought gold someone would find a way to cheaply make gold from sea water!

Plus… if gold is so great why sell it by advertising the heck out of it?
