Also works at gas pumps without reverse. If only it wasn't a peeve of mine.

Also mine. The local general store has a sign posted; "Please move vehicle when fueling is complete." I got into it big time with a woman over it. It was a hot day, I had worked later than I'd planned and for some reason had left my dog at home so wanted to get home to let her out. I pulled in and there was a car parked at the pump. After a while the owner strolled out, got in- and sat there. I tapped the horn, no reply. I tapped it again, a little harder. She hollered out the window " One more minute". I laid on the horn, at which point she finally decided to pull forward, then got out and sarcastically said " Thank you for being so patient."
She was right... there was a time when I might have come up behind her and started pushing. (Actually I've only done that once in my life. )

I have mixed thoughts on that. Nice that the parents gave their kid a somewhat unique name, but you've also saddled this kid with having to spell their name to everyone for the rest of their life. Bad enough with hyphenated last names, which could get quite cumbersome after a couple generations.

What about names that typically belong with the other gender? Years ago I worked with a guy whose name was Shirley. Would have been WWII generation, so this isn't a new thing.

The first thing I think of when I hear of unusual names given to babies is “boy that kid is going to be teased”. A couple I know named their daughter Ezra, their last name is Brooks. Kids can be cruel.

That's because upon conception, hubby's "tadpoles" floated like butterflies but stung like a bee.

I also don't like when people greet me with "How are you doing" instead of just saying Hello or Good morning.

I had to retrain myself here, as "how you doin'?" is the standard greeting in Philly thru south Jersey. Habit.

It became a problem when I started working for a German company in my 20's. Ask a German "how you doin'?", and they'll waste ten minutes of your morning telling you exactly how they are doing.

With my aging mom and her focus on all her aliments I learned not to ask that question. “Whatcha doing” worked better for me.
