if you heard the call, how hard would it be to land a 747-400 or big Airbus all by yourself?

am thinking a lot of this is the basics, which you sure know.
Is it just a big little plane?

I thought most of those big planes automatically landed on flight paths but apparently not.

It would be survivable, the airplane would even be re-useable. All airplanes fly the same, speeds, systems and size come into play, but anyone with jet experience should be able to get a large transport airplane on the ground. I have flown the full motion simulators for several large transport planes like a Boeing 777 successfully.
Believe it or not, it’s the flight management systems and autopilots that are the most different, even between models, which means it’s easier to hand fly it than use the auto pilot to land.
When an airline pilot trains for a new airplane, the very first landing (s)he makes in an actual plane is in one full of paying passengers.

Good Morning! Another beautiful day forecasted, it's warming back up. 44º - 77º today. Will start discing a small section of the neighbors field. Squirrels have dug big pits on the hillsides in the steepest section. I'll try to straighten it out before it's time to drag a mower through there next summer.
Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning Guys,
Ct, 28 to start going to mid 30's !

Going in to work now, not much to report ! Going to Mohegan Sun Casino tomorrow for a concert and dinner. Overnight stay and return on friday. I am not a gambler but Kathleen likes to play the slots, so I will probably find a seat at the bar for a couple of drinks ! We get a shuttle to our motel, so no driving involved !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !

Good Morning
34° with a high under 40 and a possibility of passing rain or snow showers later this morning.

Yesterday, had a nice breakfast with the professor and my wife, ran some errands, assembled the oil drain cart, and christened it on wife’s RAV4. Forgot to take pictures though. Repaired a leaking water line in a friends basement and did some paperwork.

Today I get to see if I can land a jet, as I’ve got to go to Palm beach. Much smaller than an Airbus, but I can barely see the wing tip if I twist around and look behind me.

I’ll sign off with a puzzle, what is this for? If nobody recognizes it, I’ll add more pieces in a later post.

Morning all, 35 going to 43 and cloudy.
Need to move more firewood up to the house today.
Specialist Dr. won't see me :-(
Back to square one...

Hope everyone ailing is getting better.

LAtke's, I used to make them a few times a year. Being eastern european we had lots of smoked and preserved foods as a kid, always with salads..Latke's were a good way to use up potatoes and onions when they were on their way out.
Food processor makes them so much easier than when we used to make them as kids.

Morning all;
A cool 25ºF this morning with just a skift of snow on the ground. I'll have to get it in gear shortly and go out and knock the snow of the 10x20 canopy that sits over the work bench me have been using this summer while the contractor has been working on the house. It is finally almost done for the year. Soffit, Fasia and Siding all James Hardi cement board the carpenter bees will be leaving the house alone now, of course everything else will be attacked.

It's nice inside the coal insert burning away keeping it in the mid 70's inside. I'm thinking this may be my last year for burning coal, knees don't like getting down low to shake and knife the grates to get the ash down into the ash pan. Well actually it's not the getting down it's the getting back up.
A good day to all

is burning wood pellets significantly more expensive than coal?
autofeeder wood stoves seem like a great idea.
though nothing compares to burning your hand each time on that hot knob
that as seen on tv is supposed to stay cool.

I would love to have a wood stove. There is so much available wood locally.
the radiant heat off the side of a big fireplace or wood stove
is a whole nother level of warmth over the oil burner.
This cottage is too small, but wonder what I could do in the garage, which would also let me work in there during the winter.
hmmmm, another project.

there is something in our wiring that makes us seek a warm fire.

good one Frits. That would be a really big ice cream cone...triple scooper size
