Snowblower and crushed rock driveway

I've had surprisingly good luck adding a homemade weight to the rear receiver an my 700 Kodiak plowing I also have v- bar tire chains on a old set of tres and rims ready to go when the going gets rough. I figured out also when plowing with an atv plow at an angle and push it as far back as you can initially.

You know - it's very fortunate. Each of us has our own way of handling snow.

I've changed the way I "do" snow around here. The weather conditions have changed so drastically in the last four or five years. Like ten days ago - overnight it dropped five inches. Two days later it's all green grass again and the only snow is in the shaded areas.

I really don't care. As long as we get enough moisture over the winter season.

We do our dead-end street and yard via atv. Might be 300ft worth. Not worthless to us!View attachment 838375
I'm sure the tracks have alot to do with how much snow you can push. Considering the price of a quad and a set of tracks your prety darn close to buying a decent used tractor.

With these parameters I've not had to plow the driveway - even once - in the last four years
I find my self needing to remove snow less and less also. Even though my driveway is totally flat the amazon guy with HT tires seams to get stuck a few times each winter. But they also have a rough time staying on the driveway in the summer and not hitting landscape boulders.

ArlyA - you are just in a different world there. Nowhere seems to compare to that area with its lake effect snows. I've been in your area once - Ontonagon, MI. Thankfully - in the summer.

nyone - a MAJOR impact on my snow plowing. I'm retired and don't have to be anywhere at any specific time. Gives a whole new meaning to urgency.

I've been looking at used tractors, but can only afford one tool. Tractor can't haul us into the woods over the summer and groom XC trails. Our atv can do more jobs.

Not to mention he needs something that's relatively easy to transport and use on narrower trails to maintain them. I can understand what he's trying to utilize and do with what he has.

Plus ArlyA probably had the ATV for his other needs first. Jon

We got a 6x6 for trail care over the summer and groom XC trails over the winter but part of that was plowing parking lot and our yard. It works. If anyone would like to assist us with the purchase of a used 4wd compact tractor, I am 100% in favor of that.
