20 or so yrs ago when I lived in southern Cali they had 50 yr mortgages, a car loan these days can now run 84+ months. I did the math on how much I I was paying to barrow money even with low interest rates, after years of struggles, luck, and being very fortunate in decisions I've made, and some will say being super cheap, ive concluded yrs ago I'd rather save and put away money for a sometimes extended time, occasionally sell stuff I don't use much anymore so I can pay cash if possible for materialistic things it's rarely the latest or greatest, but I'm not committed making payments to financial institutions for years on end only to repeat when that items paid off. Fully understanding I don't use my sometimes expensive hobbies to make much money (they usually save me some). In my younger years I'd always go the easier instant gratification route taking full advantage of credit offered to me sometimes barely making it paycheck-paycheck and one serious life changing event from losing everything. Yeah I feel old unfortunately I'm not really, minus the generic lipitor staten I now take possibly Lol. drifting self righteous blowhard meme rants over.

Does taking medication to lower cholesterol mean anything? It makes me feel old anyway.
Only medication I take is for BP. Dr. had to increase the dose my last visit.
Cholesterol is a bit high, but the bad is balanced out by the good also being high. My mother's was the same way and she made it to 96 without taking anything for it.

Other than kind of being "out of it" culturally, the biggest thing that makes me feel old is creaky joints (knees particularly) and lower stamina.

I was born 15 miles from here. I ran service calls for many years and bought this place in 1980. First & only place I looked at, I knew where I wanted to live. Back then a nice 80 something fellow would stop by, he said his friend bought the place in late 30s, 40 acres and all material to build the house for $500!

I remember my grandpa ran a Pool Hall when I was a kid. Large room with 8 pool tables, a counter, a cigarette machine and a Coke machine - the kind you opened a door and pulled out a bottle.

Nothing else.

I’d go there on Saturdays - to the chagrin of my mother.

It was great fun for a kid.

I’m guessing no such thing exists anymore.
