How much should I expect to pay for having engine replaced

We have a LS Mtron model #G3038H with a bad engine. the engine number is GB120588. We are trying to get an idea on what we should expect to pay for installation of a new engine......any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

replace with new - $13000
replace with used - cost of engine plus $4500

I think it would cost less to rebuild it unless the block is scrap??

No idea about your specific tractor model...but 5 years ago when the engine on my John Deere 2020 diesel began dumping its coolant into the crankcase I contacted 3 different John Deere dealers and got quotes ranging from $15,000 to $20,000 to have a rebuilt engine installed, or to rebuild the engine that was already in it. I wasn't going to put that much money into an old tractor I'd paid only $7,000 for, so I bought a Kubota. A few months later I heard of a guy who worked on old tractors so I contacted him. He did a complete rebuild on the engine in that old John Deere for $3,000. So now I have two tractors...and use them both!
