Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 5:30AM still in Orcutt.
Areas of fog early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 62F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.
We picked up about 3/4" of rain over the weekend, then a bit more yesterday afternoon. The NOAA gang is hinting at another atmospheric river event for next week. Reservoir levels up north are already well above normal for this time of year, but the warmer temperatures have prevented the snow pack from building. The skiers aren't happy and the farmers are starting to worry.
RNG, can you re-hang that door to swing out and still hinge it off the wall side?
Yes, I probably could reposition the door stops and put the door on the other side of the threshold, but the bigger issue is that about 6" of the door frame is blocked by the desk. It's not much of an issue now, but should wheelchair access ever be needed through that door, I'd be screwed. Another problem for another day.
Might want to give the DeOxIt a bit more time to work, Bill. I've had it fail to do anything after five minutes, get disgusted and go have lunch, and the circuit is back to normal when I checked it again.
Speaking of CDs, had a new one show up from Amazon, a 2 disc set, and the first disc was blank! Started a return with Amazon, and a new one has already shipped.
Music sounds very nice in the smaller office room. I don't worry too much about sound quality with my bad ears, but I do notice the difference in original recording quality. Some of the stuff coming out right now is fantastic, even by artists using their home recording studios. Some of that music isn't available on CDs, only streams. It all ends up on the file server, which is what I end up listening to. Still like having physical media in the drawer for backup, though.
The last trip down here we had a fair amount of rain and the drains for the back patio backed up and flooded about half the patio. Did it again night before last. During a break in the rain yesterday my friend and I poked around out by the curb to see if we could figure out where the drain line ended up. The sod was really squishy out by the sidewalk, so we peeled up an eighteen inch wide piece but couldn't find the drain line. I got a 3/4"x3/4" piece of pine left by the PO and started poking it into the ground until I hit something more solid. It turned out to be the drain line, a 4" piece of ABS. And that led to a 6" plastic grate that was buried under the sod. Cut the sod away, removed the grate, and used my hand to fish out about a foot of mud and roots down to the drain line itself. Another shower came through and it was flowing nicely out of the grate, over the sidewalk, and down to the curb and gutter. I was going to use a pressure washer and new jetter attachment to try to clear the line, but now I can feel there's nothing in the drain line down by the street, so I don't think I"ll bother. Might even return the jetter setup. I have hopes of closing in some or all of the patio, and hope this resolves the flooding issue which, by the way, wasn't disclosed by the PO.
Got the last of the file boxes emptied and put into the cabinets yesterday, too. That pretty much finishes up the office move. What a relief. Will get a start on the last room full of boxes today.
