Drew, mentioning Buzz Saw brings back old memories. Here is old Polaroid picture of doing firewood in my yard. My ears still buzz from sound of the blade spinning.

My grandfather had big buzz saw next to his woodshed, not sure what powered it, probably tractor pto.

last night was a big full moon, fox moon or something, too bad it's so cloudy out can't see it here.

spent two hours outside getting some needed exercise. Weeded raised beds, then put in the three bags of
mushroom soil and two bags of organic fertilizer. Smelled a bit, must be good right?, but still partly frozen in the bag
so I'll wait til tomorrow for final raking. Then turned on the water, cleaned the siding near my front door which had gotten trashed by two storms
ago, plus those dried up little worms. Then cleaned off all the birdfeed mess in various places, squirted off the car while hose was out, and that was it.
In for the afternoon doing laundry. I think last of my seeds come today.

put in my veggie order with Burpee, bush beans this year and lots of them, a few tomatoes, grilling peppers and a poblano, nothing
particularly unusual. They send the little plants out when it's time. Moving everything around in garden, rotating my crops
Decided to grow tomatoes in two big pots this year, will give me more room in garden. Plus a fig tree. I'll plant that in a big pot I can take
in over winter. I'm not much of a fig person but friends like them. I have to remember to cook a pork roast with my own figs.

WE'VE BEEN INVADED!

Normally, we have 4-6 ring neck doves that hang around all the time. I looked out the window and they were all over the courtyard! We counted 58 of 'em.... must be having a family reunion or a party!

Couldn't get a pic.... as soon as they see any movement ---- instant chaos begins.... flying into one another, tree branches, fences, etc....

Not the most graceful birds.....
Found it odd there were so many out there.

Still didn't leave for the errands..... wifey put in a load of laundry..... guess we're not leaving for another little bit....

Drew, we have a fig tree growing in the greenhouse. It's only about 2' tall, no figs yet. Do you know how old they have to be before they produce? This started out about 4" tall a couple seasons ago....
Along with a couple avocado trees about the same height/age......

Ted, I had three fig trees in NC, and except for one year where frost really damaged them, I got figs the first year, but really
more showed up on larger tree second year. I found they grew pretty quick but have no idea what varieties they were.
Mine started out as much larger plants from local nursery.

I am lusting after your greenhouse...I know all too well how poorly it turns out trying to start seeds inside even on a sunny window.
Nothing beats a greenhouse.

My fig tree produces hundreds of figs. I did have die off one year, but it came back the next year came back with a few figs and went crazy after that.

I share 50/50 with the birds and still took off a few hundred.
They like a LOT of sun.

The tree is about 8 feet tall by almost as wide.
Had a fig tree in my first house and it also produced like crazy.

During the fall it's entertaining to watch the bees and hornets get loopy on the rotten figs that are left over.

Both of my trees have never been wrapped or covered during the winter here.

Yep, we are keeping things growing even in our cold snaps. Granted the space heater keeps it around 40° when the outside is 10°.
I / we can't remember where, when, or what type it is...... so just 'growing' it.... waiting for a surprise one day.....

Have you looked into getting another? Even the Harbor Fright ones look pretty good for the price.

Mmmm, I thought they couldn't take freezing temps.... going to have to research this..... maybe they need the cold?

Matters the fig type. Some like the cold, some need it warm.
Most should be able to take some cold though.
The ones we have are cold hardy variety, I think brown turkey, but I did not plant either one.
What type do you have?

Swelling down and 1/2 black now. Surprised.

Never broke a toe before, no experience to draw on. Not pleasant to look at, but that's what socks and shoes are for. LOL.

Thank you.
Just make every effort to insure it heals straight. I've a Big toe that I damaged while in high school. You know those years when you can just about kill yourself and be all healed by morning.
It seemed to heal fine, just a little bit off. So I ignored it, lived with it, continued to play soccer etc.
By age 40 it was starting to underlap the second toe. The doctor suggested splints.
By 50 I needed a wider shoe and had a noticeable bunion, the doctor said don't worry, we can do surgery. But it could take a long time to heal, and I was on constant travel, no downtime available. Here's some more splints.
By 60 it was the same, but then I was starting to move to Mississippi, driving down once a month.
At 70 the doctor stopped recommending surgery and I decide to live with it.
/EDIT
So take care of your feet.
