Good Morning
66° with a high of 80 on tap. Line of weather just passed through, “I woke up to the sound of thunder”. We got about 1/8” of rain that’s going to be it for today as it clears up and the sun comes out.

Happy belated birthday Frits.

Yesterday’s breakfast was good as usual, when I got home I did work on the permit drawings for a while, then took the string trimmer for a walk. Didn’t even use up one battery. Next was the Lazer, (Kohler engine, not Kawasaki) and then the tractor and Progressive mower.

Took a break for lunch, made pork sandwiches for myself and the neighbors, we ate on the patio while Zoe kept us entertained with her jolly ball.

After lunch it was back in the tractor to finish mowing. It amazes me how much grass accumulates on the rear deck, I always meticulously blow it off before I park it, but the sod farm that owned it before me must not have been so dedicated.

I’ll go back to organizing the shop to find storage space for alpaca wares today. Still need to work on the permit drawings as well.

I had a visitor yesterday. He was born (~1950) and raised in this (farm) house. They farmed this 80 acres here and his Dad did custom corn shelling. The 3,000 bushel corn crib (full cobs) is still here. They heated the house with the cobs (haven't heard about that kind of heat for years...). We spent a couple hours visiting while I gave him a complete tour. He told me all about "the old days" growing up here. He told me that they hand dug the basement, from below the standing house. He seemed satisfied that I was reviving the place, after the prior owner had let it go... He still lives in the area, collects old Deere tractors and even has the old Rumely Oil Pull tractor that has been in the family since new, and was used on this farm. Very interesting, getting the history of this place first hand.

Wow, always so cool to hear history from people that lived it. I was fortunate enough to purchase our place from only the third owner. Even then, there were questions that remained unanswered and to this day.

So much changes so quickly.
