Our well water is high in calcium and lime. At least the sprinklers don't stain the house orange as with iron.I’ve kicked around buying some kind of water softener setup for car washes but I’m trying it without. I bought a TDS meter and tried it in my house which has a softener. The water showed a higher reading after the softener than the raw water coming in the house. I actually almost called the softener company but then I read online where that’s normal. The softener removes the “undesirable “ hardness but doesn’t lower the TDS. The water is better as far as spotting goes with the rural water we have now than the well water we used to have.
