Yet it's a free country . They can drive what they want.
Not really, many if not most places the little one can't be registered and street licensed. Many vehicles I would like to drive can not be imported because we have allowed unelected bureaucratics to decide what can be imported and or built here.

So in one picture you’ve decided the guy with the black pickup is a cowboy wanna be that keep up with his payments. I see an electrician who just wants to keep his tools dry. Not really but you get my point.
Yeah but - a Suburban, if he needs to carry family in his work truck, or a tradesman van if not, would be a better match to an electrician's needs. I gave a lot of thought to this when I went from a pickup to a Wagoneer back when I was a carpenter. The pickup had too much risk of tools getting stolen in an urban environment like that picture.

Agree that the little Kai trucks are too small to be legal or practical. But I think the point of that photo was that the tiny bed on the American truck is more for show than for real truck use.

in Europe those little trucks are used everywhere for delivery, mostly crates.
You see them all morning long. They don't go on the highway.
Workhorses.

And what the poster of that truck meme and a bunch of folks here are doing is judging others and applying your own views and biases to the other people's choices. People made the choices they made. It's their choice to make. You don't know what went into the choice or what their priorities are. They may well be different from yours. Leave them alone and let them make the choices they want to make and you make the choices that work for you.

My response to it was about the irrationality of the vehicle comparison, which is based on facts, not judgements. I don't fault the guy or lady who bought the little truck. Just the tool disregarding the larger one based on a single attribute.

I see a lot of really pretty F250's, with flawless paint and stupid low-profile tires set wider than the truck body. Lots of them are diesel, some with smoke stacks in the bed, and none will be used for hauling more than a new clothes dryer or a few bags of potting soil... before wiping the bed down clean. Stupid.
"Metrosexuals", I call them.

Target consumer for the Tesla Cybertruck.

Hey, I pressure washed the bed in my truck this spring at the car wash :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
My bed gets hosed or blown out if what I was hauling is corrosive, like fertilizer, if one of the bags has a tear and spills. Likewise, if it's so dirty that it's going to be a problem for the next thing I'm likely to haul. Other than that... it's a pickup truck bed, it's not meant to be clean or pretty.

As far as not judging others for their choices, I think that's at the core of what so many of you complain about everyday, i.e. the Woke movement. Some might say there's not enough judgement of our neighbors. Peer pressure has a way of keeping society in line, you don't do stupid crap when you're worried about what your neighbors or peers will do or say about it. Everyone from the Puritans to gossiping 1950's housewives knew that.

When a portion of the woke keep terrorizing and stepping on others rights, it's not easily corrected.
Look at the KK K and others who marched down main streets for decades.

We seem to have a lot of "movements" now that want to use fear and riot to push their point on others.

Not an easy fix when the "Press" and gov try to insight them.

I actually looked at one of those little trucks a couple of years ago, but with a 700lb gvwr it would have been pretty useless. My little dump trailer will hold 3 times that... 20240517_173541.jpg

I had an early 70's Datsun pickup, one step up from the Kei micro-trucks. I think it was rated a half ton. This rating was accomplished with leaf springs that felt like no deflection at all unless fully loaded. Darn tiring on hours-long trips. But it would move along with freeway traffic.

The truck's only virtue was excellent gas mileage, at a time of gas crises. Lets just say this was before Japan started sending over the top quality cars that they are now known for.

What's to groan about? Nice heavy duty single axle tralier.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it?

Agreed, except I'd want fenders. Wonder if it's owner-built? Has a vintage look to it, and I'd believe them if they told me it's 50+ years old.

When somebody pops up on the board asking what trailer to purchase, so many people answer 22 foot, 14K. And lots of space to move the tractor forward or back for weight balance.

This one is half that.

With the tractor bucket overhanging the front of the bed.

It does have a quite a long tongue, so turning shouldn't be a problem with the bucket as it is.

Oh, and split rim lock ring rims. The tires have a lot of weather checking. Is that a Ford hubcap... not new at all!!!

Trailer6.jpg

With the Ford hubcap, it may be a front axle to trailer conversion, which would also makes sense as to why it appears to have hydraulic surge brakes.

No apparent suspension.

The tires could be 7.50-16 or 7.50-16.5, and probably the pair had a rating of around 7K, so not too bad for a single axle trailer.

Another issue that that era of trailer could have. It could have something like 6.00-16 tires without clearance for modern upgrades.

It is a trailer that would do its job if given a pair of new tires (if they could be found). Yet, it is also one that the seller put quite a bit of effort into restoring, but ultimately is undersized for hauling a tractor or excavator anywhere more than around the neighborhood.

Lose one of those badly weather checked tires, and you're in big trouble with no spare.

Oh that looks painful. I hope he was okay. Too steep on the ramps, should have found a snowbank to back up to the lessen the angle.

It looks inadequate, but it will haul more under my ownership than probably 95% of the "Heavy Duty" trucks parked next to it at the grocery store, any given Sunday night.
Some care about looks, others dont.

Ive hauled 10k behind my V70 diesel, though 7k is still safe for the highway. Its not a race, i can keep up with the big rigs and i dont want to hurry more than that either when hauling heavy...
