Interesting day

Can’t explain how or why, but Sophie’s Scag started and ran a bit. Have it on battery charger and have cranked it every now and then . One day I kinda over cranked it and it coughed a bit. Shocked. Did again today while playing with choke and it started. Played with throttle until it stalled. There’s hope.

Main project was Sophie’s Craftsman mower. She had busted both frame members just behind the front axel. If only I was a decent welder. Today I fabricated 2 mending plates, 6x3x 1/4 steel plate. I will be able to mount using 3 existing bolt holes and drill a 4th. Likely be stronger than original. I don’t have the tools or metal skills of many here, but I think I’ve got a structurally sound fix even if not pretty. I should be able to weld it if necessary.
Will get that finished tomorrow. Will post pics.

Here’s a pic of broken area.

Other side is broken same way. Kinda affects the steering.

Coffee is brewing. 54° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85° with rain in afternoon. Got all but 2 bags of Mulch spread yesterday. Going to need about 6 more to finish all the areas. Helped neighbor trim trees and haul limbs to burn pile. Got grass mowed. Will pickup bags of mulch up from Menards today. Depending on weather will get them put down. That should be enough for today.

Prayers and best whishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

60 and fog and drizzle...going to 73...still chance for showers.

Ron, great shot of those cardinals...like you to told them to stand there and pose.

Kyle, I like your plasma art. Do the students get to keep them?

Mostly, you know who thinks she is the new boss of the house.

Yesterday was a rainout. But did make progress on some training commands, and Della walked her obstacle courses with no assistance. Her nails have grown so fast. I ordered a rechargeable Dremel to use...I've never liked using clippers.

Plow, how did your visit go?

Thomas, I forgot to show you these pix of the bear that drank our hummingbird juice after bending the shepherd hook to the ground. Glad he/she doesn't hang around like your Boo...I'd be nervous. Do you think it is a male or female? This cam is mounted at the opening of my little barn looking outside...

good morning all
a warmer nice day today, up to 76 in mostly sun.
Good, lots to do today.
food shopping this morning, pack the rv, wash the rv and mow the lawn.

I've seen two red foxes in last month. One here behind the house checking out the garden and
one running behind my friend's home last night in Hatfield. That's a pretty urban area, wonder how the critters find a home in it.

I'd like to find an octopus in my back yard. Of course, that would mean a house in the Keys with a reef nearby.
but I've decided that Florida is nice to visit, and nice to go home from. For half the year too hot and the other half too many people.

Don, that's quite a pool. Hope your wife let's me use it when I come visit. ;) I'm a great floater...love the water.
with your summer heat, I'd be surprised if you really didn't get to like it. That pool vac should help make it easier.
is that a bromine or chlorine pool?

Ron, great his and her pic.

woke up feeling good. hope you all have a great Sunday.

Morning all!
55 going to a cloudy 63. 80's plus forecast for the upcoming week.
Quite a bit accomplished this week. Garden is leveled and picked clean of visible rocks. Just need to install the fence and it's ready for planting.
Finished project at sister's house.

They will do final work themselves.
Also completed the railing and stairs at my cousins. Was a mixture of new and used material.

Will be busy in the upcoming week with visitors staying over for a couple days. Also have our air conditioning unit getting an annual cleaning. We will be hosting family coffee date on Thursday and there is a couple of other things that I forget right now.
Did get two projects completed in the woodshop.
Need to get more coffee now!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Bill, avoiding smoking will be really good for your body.
edibles are an option if they don't jack up your heart rate.
I think you need to be mighty calm for a while.
which in itself sucks. But sure beats the alternatives.
if there's anything in you that needs fixed, wait til you are done.
and then knowing what you just went through, you may do things differently.
Or you may not. That's your deal. Like I own my own.

Roy smoked right up til the end. It clearly gave him something he needed.
I wish he had tried alternatives, something.
He was already weak in one leg from a prior stroke.
one too many risk factors and he died.

stick around friend.

61 outside this AM, heading to mid 70's. No rain. Yippie.

Did some running around yesterday and some household maintenance here and there. Did put up a chain across the driveway. Had a visitor the other night. Only the second time in twenty years someone has come up the driveway. There was a party up the road, but with today's GPS availability I'd say they were up to no good. I "met" them on the balcony and turned on the spotlights to encourage them to move along. Which they did. I need a gate down there but am being stingy as the dollars are earmarked for something else.

Today I have a walk planned searching for the hazard lens cap out there somewhere. Also need to cut one more path through some wild acreage. We let some land go natural and it is already about six feet high if not more in spots. Lots of activity down there when I was cutting.

Don, views and relaxation are where it is at with our water feature. I do spend more time maintaining it than swimming in it. I think last year I got in once or twice. That was OK though, watching the sunset over the water and pasture is a soothing, calming experience. Zen like stuff.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe. Those ailing, know people are pulling for you. Stay positive.

IMHO, it’s not the people, nor their relationships, it is their in your face activism and intolerance.
Yesterday, about 5pm, a TV commercial came on. With two men kissing. So it is beyond just tolerance here in CA.

Now, back to our regular programming:

Forecast for 72F and sunny today. I've got one more pasture sprinkler to fix before trying to activate the pasture irrigation. Fortunately to fix this one I will not be working sub-grade in a hole laying on my stomach. Unlike the others. I can't stomach doing another one of those, ha ha.

Everyone have a great day !!!

good morning all, Nice week ahead no rain for a few days

Around our house it is like living in bird sanctuary with chatter and nest building, cardinals attacking the mirrors on the van. The tall trees near the house are like high rise buildings for them as well as the many Squirrels. The big black birds are chasing off the Hawks. Don't have the equipment to take good pictures but there are many good shoots.

Ordered some more tools for helping feed the wood splitter. Also found a trailer hitch thing that transfers it down 4 inches so it can clear the snowplow mounting bracket on the RTV

More mowing on the agenda and trying out the splitter today

The Mulberry trees I took down yesterday may turn into wood for the smoker

plowhog, I wish there were better filters on tv/cable programming.
what young kids watch on tv or now on the internet, it's pretty eye opening for us as we get older.
How a child learns *** education is usually mandated by the State, but what they see or can see is way beyond
the learning comprehension of little kids. Let them be kids.
Do we have to strip them of their innocence at age 2?
just try banning Santa Claus...

I've been involved in this concern being on a K-8 private school board and see what goes on
in likely the best of cases. Presentation material should always be approved and clearly there should be
guidelines for what is age appropriate.

I still can't use the word queer because I was taught it was disrespectful.
And now the term seems glorified.
I scratch what is left of my head hair on that one.

and while it is ingrained in many at this private school, I do not use pronouns.
I wish I could sign
Drew (me)
you figure it out, stop trying to classify me
and get out of my face if you are
I'm not coming in on your kid's tv, so leave me alone.

I always wanted to be a teacher. I'm not sure I can answer all the questions
these topics pose. This is well trod educational ground, but things are sure changing.
And just how fast do we want to change.

but it's my right!
oh stuff it
