Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

It is SO GOOD to see this thread active again. It has been so helpful to me in the past. Andy and DaBear have been especially helpful. Have been trying to steer 1045/55 owners from the Mahindra group on Facebook to this site also with little luck.

Thanks! There’s definitely a lot of good useful information contained in this thread. I’m really still very happy with my tractor. I added front hydraulics for my grapple and have been putting them to good use this spring.

My 5155 has been amazing. I bought the Mahindra branded grapple when I bought the tractor, along with the Mahindra branded box blade. The grapple is my most used implement and it's holding up well. It's not as robust as some of the aftermarket grapples, but it has been working fine for me. I have the W.R. Long third function kit, and aside from a few leaky quick disconnects, it works like a champ!

I'm coming up on 50 hours with mine, torn between doing the service myself, or taking it to my dealership. I know I could save $$$ doing it myself, just need to document everything.

Just did the 50 hour service this past weekend. Totally Do-able. Ordered my filters online beforehand and actually changed the fluid at this time. Found the hyd. spin on filter on ebay for much less than the dealer, also the engine oil filter cross references to a Wix 51324 FYI. Decided to change the fluid because once I changed the spin on hyd. filter the fluid that came out was pretty shiny and glittery. I used Shell Rotella Tractor Fluid. Glad I did it because once I got the suction strainer off it was pretty full of what looked like rough casting edges. No big chunks of gears or anything of that sort, just probably brake material and casting roughage. Just used a few 5 gal. buckets as catch pans. I attached a picture of what was in the bottom of one of the buckets after draining. I also sent an engine oil sample to Blackstone and can post results when I get them back.

Awesome information!!!

I am probably going to do it myself, since I really don't trust the dealership. If I take pictures and document everything, save receipts for the fluids and filters, I should be ok with warranty issues, hopefully.

I will also check torque specs on bolts and grease everything!

Don’t forget to look at cooling fluid and any fel bolt migration based on previous witness marks.

One other thing I found in regards to the fuel filter, the part # that was on the old filter is not the same as the new one I got from the dealer. They are identical in size and fit with the only thing I had to do was change the bottom water outlet valve from my old one to the new one. The new one did not come with a metal post for the water sensor. No biggie just something I found odd. I read on another forum that the old part number is the fuel filter assembly as a whole and the one on the new filter I got is the actual element? Just keep in mind when you start swapping filters.

Arrow, DarbyCrash... VERY good input. This is what this forum is all about, sharing ideas and things to keep our "Mighty Mo's" running tip top.

The only thing I need now, is a replacement set of steps... I bent mine beyond repair early on, working in tight timber. OOps!
