Tractor
Current Kioti CK27HST and Cub Cadet 1810. Previous NH1510 Hydro, AC D14, Oliver 1355?, and JD 314 Lawn Tractor
I am considering getting a Parade Tractor that will also be used for group drive events with tractor clubs on paved country roads. Distances for the road group travel events can be up to 15 miles.

Most of the clubs i know target a maintainable road speed minimum of 10 Miles Per Hour (MPH) but suggest if you have to make up some distance, it is good to be able to max out up to 15 MPH. Actual parade speeds are usually pretty slow around 5 MPH so that seems within reason for the classic Yanmars. My question is which, if any of the Classic Yanmar Tractors (manufacturing date of 1982 and earlier for my requirements) could comfortably maintain 10 to 15 MPH on straight paved country roads?

(I have always liked the Classic Yanmars and saw them as a kid growing up. Would like to finally get one as I have not seen them at the parades. I would also likely use it for some light rough cut field mowing as a backup to my Kioti CK27HST. I like the -10 and -20 series but am open to any series that would fit the primary goal of parade and tractor club road travel)

Appreciate any information or suggestions.

Thanks. Spanky

I can tell you the ym240 top speed is 9.1mph. Research could probably give info on other models. I believe the 2210 is 10.9mph. 2310 is 9.73mph.

😍 I ENVY you to a great extent. 😍

In the Yanmar lineup, the PowerShift tractors would be the best for the application. And in parades, there would be times pulling a wagon, float, trailer or sorts, or maybe a vintage Yanmar attachment.

Engine wise, 3T80 or 3T84 would have the power and those machines would keep up very well at the YM2420 or higher models.
Really, a YM2420, YM2620 or YM3220 or YM4220. The YMxx20 has all the nice options. Now, the YMxx10 has a few good machines too. YM2610, YM3110 and YM3810. These machines will keep up in the parade and have the spare ability to close the distance easily.

Since you live in the SOUTH, near Fredricks, you can have one totally RESTORED to better than new. It would be a machine to be proud of in a parade.

My YM2610 bought fully restored in 2014 still turns heads today.

You are right.

The models with the 3T80 or 3T84 above the YM2420 can achieve the needed speed.

A family member has followed my YM2610 around 20mph while in PowerShift band-4, in top 3rd gear with the throttle about 2800rpms.

I would assume the higher models with their setup would be on par for the task of closing the distance quickly.

Nice restored tractor you have including the added ROPS. I like that Fredricks adds that safety item. You have maintained it in show condition.

Appreciate the other pictures and agree that a -10 or -20 power shift series is a great choice for the stop and go in the parade line. The restored/remanufactured Frederick Tractors would meet the need from day one. Will have to check into their pricing of the various models. Most of my time is spent in NE Texas and NE Tennessee; areas that are close enough to visit.

I have never seen a Yanmar Tractor in a parade and hope to change that. In fact on my bucket list with this new parade tractor is to drive it over the Mackinac Bridge (bridge connecting Michigan's upper and lower sides) during their Annual Antique Tractor Crossing (requires a 1982 or earlier tractor). I have driven over it in trucks and cars in the past but never an open statin tractor at slow speed. They limit the participation to 1500 tractors and you must be part of an accepted tractor club. (You might be close to add that to your bucket list. We might be the only Yanmars on the bridge)

Thanks again for the information.

Thanks for your leveraged reply. I am thinking that there is a suitable Classic Yanmar for my (work) and play.

Should I join the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group (YTOG)?

Thanks again for the great information and quick responses.

Best regards

All I can say is wow I am glad I didn’t drive an old Yanmar home from the dealership it would have been an 8 hour ordeal
