Thanks for your leveraged reply. I am thinking that there is a suitable Classic Yanmar for my (work) and play.

Should I join the Yanmar Tractor Owners Group (YTOG)?

Thanks again for the great information and quick responses.

Best regards

The YTOG is a listserv. Yet you can use it as a message board when login.

A listserve sends out emails or messages to your device. As a daily grouping, weekly summary or each message constantly. Some people go nuts with the over load of messages. We have been averaging lately nearly 200 per month or more!

IF you sign up, don't want messages, then pick SPECIAL messages. Just maybe 1 or 2 per year is all you will get. However, like TBN and other sites, you would then need to visit the YTOG and read the threads of messages per the topic. Sort of like a forum, but like a message board.

I have mine set in DARK MODE. Easy on the eyes.

The membership has jumped to over 1,094. Back in the prime, on GeoCities/Yahoo Groups, it peaked at 2,793. In 2019, membership fell to a mere 84. I've been pass the baton as the 3rd owner. Rather than see all of the rich history fade away and the documents disappear on the web for good, the community pulled together to kick-start a 2nd strong life.

When we hit 2022, we averaged more activity for Yanmar machines then All of TBN, TractorForum, MyTractorForum, YMOwners, NetTractorTalk, and TractorPoint forums combined. And it's only picked up since.

PS, should you pick a Fredricks machine, not only do you get ROPS, you get seat-belts, turn-signals, PTO shield, caution decals in English (makes it better to use the machine) etc.

Bmaverick thanks for picking up the flag and running with it when Yahoo abandoned their forums!

Thanks for the information on Yanmar Tractors Owners Group (YTOG) and keeping the past information and group going. I will join. Agree the Fredricks is a good way to proceed. Will have to make plans to visit them.

Good luck on that Mackinaw bridge crossing!

ponytug

It has been on my bucket list for awhile and not getting any younger so time to proceed with further planning. I have always liked the classic Yanmar tractors and have not seen them in parades so will combine getting a pre-1982 Yanmar for parades and making the bridge crossing.

When I do make the crossing I will be sure to post pictures here for the group to enjoy. Hope to make this fall but if not 2025.

Thanks

Thanks for the post and great pictures. 945 hours of work/play. (I always tell my wife her Kioti tractor is for work but she knows it is more of a toy)

I bought it for her but she keeps reminding me that after about (from memory) 12 or 14 years she has never used it and it is really my tractor.

Your YM2000 is a sweet looking classic for sure. The land in the background of the pictures looks very nice. Ii hope that is your land as well.

Best regards

The land is mine and my mothers. Her house and mine right @ 12 acres. My Profile is my front yard and mothers house to the upper R. in the Pic.. 3.5 acres I mow Wkly.. I use my ford 2000 in the wooded area you see in the pic of my YM2000.
Yrs. Ago Kioti wasn't available in my area. VN. Yanmar was still a local importer. Knowing the history of Yanmar I wasn't even thinking about buying one. My Org. came from a Fredricks supplied dealer. I was kicking tires from a CL. add. Left a Chk. for it until I could get back with a trailer. A refurbished Fredricks tractor was purchased also. The Org. 2000 was easier to work on than I thought and get parts of the few I needed. The YM2500 was for Retired Catholic priests house so for people who Are not really that Mech. inclined was the way to go!! Esp. with the VN. problems which was no doubt about that. My mother was the Yanmar roll over kids Bus driver. She was there when the rescue squad was. Dad worked for Ford Aunt at the Courthouse. so I heard the truth of it all. I do wish I had a new one. Yanmar USA. not far from me in Ga. and see all the good stuff!!. Man are they nice!!!!

😍 I ENVY you to a great extent. 😍

In the Yanmar lineup, the PowerShift tractors would be the best for the application. And in parades, there would be times pulling a wagon, float, trailer or sorts, or maybe a vintage Yanmar attachment.

Engine wise, 3T80 or 3T84 would have the power and those machines would keep up very well at the YM2420 or higher models.
Really, a YM2420, YM2620 or YM3220 or YM4220. The YMxx20 has all the nice options. Now, the YMxx10 has a few good machines too. YM2610, YM3110 and YM3810. These machines will keep up in the parade and have the spare ability to close the distance easily.

Since you live in the SOUTH, near Fredricks, you can have one totally RESTORED to better than new. It would be a machine to be proud of in a parade.

My YM2610 bought fully restored in 2014 still turns heads today.

That looks great. If you don’t mind me asking how much did the restoration cost??

One thing I will caution anyone about when crossing the Mack is don't drive your tractor in the fast lane as the bridge deck is expanded metal and you can look right through it to the water, hundreds of feet below and if heights makes you squeamish, I guarantee you'll puke. Slow lane is solid steel. Found that out the hard way. I've crossed it many, many times in my car and truck and never paid any attention until I crossed it on my motorcycle and had to stop midway across due to an accident and I was sitting there and looked down, big mistake, lost my burger I ate in Mackinaw City along with everything else.
