Having a heck of a time mounting this tire. Bought a Haltec TC-63 bead seater to aid the mounting, but it squirts out where the ring is bonded together every time and the the air escapes before the bead seats.

See Video

Any ideas?

I'm tempted to use a ratchet strap and block of rubber in that spot but seems sketchy.

make sure the valve in the schraeder nipple is removed while doing this to get higher air flow and have your air supply connected while you are blasting it.
There's a pail of corn starch putty you can buy that can help by sealing the bead area immediately. Then it oozes out as the tire fills.

I've used the ether method with great success, too. The key steps are: filling only the inside volume, no spash on the outer sidewall, to have just the right amount by starting low amounts, light with a long nosed barbecue torch starter, not a match, AND there's a big difference between ether and 'starting fluid'. the starter fluid is watered down to minimize an explosion hazard. Garage sales are the best places to find old school ether starting fluid.

I bought a bucket of Murphy's tire mounting compound to use with the bead seater and initially was using too much of it. I had to wipe most of it off to get it to not squeeze out immediately. I can try it without the bead seater maybe.

I've never really attempted the either method but might have to..

First I will try removing the vavle.

That will be a problem because the air supply connector senses the valve presence, so no joy. You need a special adapter used with tire changers that passes air with or without the valve inserted.

It's not a split ring rim it's a Dayton. Some of my machines have split rims and I hate working with them.

I removed the valve and my tire chuck worked fine.

I didn't think this compound would work in this case because the tire is so stiff and it was about an inch away from the rim. But the compound worked great.

I didn't fully set the bead yet as I'll wait to do that when I can put the loader bucket of my backhoe over the tire.

I always run a trail of starting fluid onto the sidewall for lighting and use a bic lighter, works every time with modern starting fluid.

Good to know.

Perect for starting fluid, its a liquid form. Ether is purely an invisible gas. Will only stay in the tire.

To each his own. I don't fool with truck tires ever when I can have them mounted by my tire man for 15 bucks a shot, in a tire cage. Much safer and less chance of getting dead.
