Somebody say they were having trouble finding grapples?

There is a company - ANBO - about 70 miles north of me. They will custom make just about any style you could ever want. As long as it is sound - from an engineering stand point.

I seriously considered one of their units. I visited their facility two times. I just couldn't bring myself to ask the local Kubota dealer to install a unit that he did not sell.

I have had one for about 9 years for my m5 kubota. My only complaint is that I ordered too many tines on it. It will hold dirt when I use it as a root rake.

Here's my new CID 63" HD Root Grapple. It has been great so far!

The problem is not finding grapples. It is finding grapples in the style I want, in the weight I can use, that have a good jaw opening I want, that have the ability to be maintained, that don't cost stupid money. EA had developed a grapple that checked all those boxes... until they disappeared. The hunt continues. One of the WR Long grapples is presently on my short list. But the nearest dealer that stocks one is almost 6 hrs away.
"that have a good jaw opening I want."

That is actually one of the rarer features.

I got lucky with my used grapple being able to open it to 49"

I bought a NH tc40 that came with a tomahawlk brand grapple. It was used commercially to clear brush. It's not made from any special steel but isnt bent or twisted. I'm not mining rock here but theres lots of clay and rock here.

I just think people put to much emphasis on what special steels grapples are made from.

For me it was the weight-strength trade off. Better steel can have the same strength, but weighs significantly less.

Different strokes for different folks. I like that my grapple has many teeth. I use it to move dirt. Straight down - jaws wide open. Clamp it shut - lift and move. Only used occasionally but it's there when I need it.
