86° my arse...... 95° out now and it hasn't even gotten to the hottest time of the day!

No go on the mowing. I'll hit it first in the morning.

Drip irrigation on the last 3 zones. Should finish around 18:00.

Wifey and I sat on the front porch and discussed the landscaping project for the area on the side of the garage out to the street. We basically are growing all the trees and shrubs already, they should be ready by next spring.

She wants "more of a curve" in the driveway in that area, so will probably at least do that part this year. Also discussed what materials to use to border that area of the drive. Natural rock/boulders, RR ties, decorative block, or timbers. Preliminary decision is timbers..... of course subject to change 3 times.....

Going to make Philly steak sandwiches and fries for dinner, haven't had any for a while.

Good Evening Thomas,

Good work on the stump removal ! I dont wash the old Massey but I do blow off the dust after bush hogging with my electric blower in the barn and then will take an old towel and wipe down the hood and fenders ! Dont want to ruin that patina !:D

Hope all had a wonderful fathers day !(y)

You might enjoy watching the taming of the Black Canyon that turned into the Hoover dam. My old company Bechtel changed from being a local San Fransisco construction company into a major engineering construction company
Were you down this way for the STP project?
Kyle, you have been busy. Do you have a summer class too?

Everyone have a great day!
LS, your place looks beautiful, like an oasis in the desert. I'm not faculty, however a few times each semester I do get a chance to lecture some classes on some of the equipment we teach with, mainly for safety and to show off each machine's abilities.

One of my former student helper/trainees is moving to my hometown to work in a Caterpillar factory as a manufacturing engineer. I told him where the best burgers are for the price, and he says they've already been there.

Having a "kick back" day. Need the rest. Had to swap and migrate 3 tires on the SUV, getting the spare disconnected was the worst. I had to lay out cardboard, go prone, lift up the heavy truck tire and figure out the disconnect from the lowering cable. They now have a kind of a button to push to unhook the "bell" from the cable, to turn the bell sideways and get it out. You have to have enough slack in the lowering cable to get it unhooked.

We went to 2 church services. Wifey was actually comforted that I dragged her to the 2nd church, since some friends' daughter was having a fish fry graduation party after church in the fellowship hall. Yummy catfish and crazy good desserts. The strawberry cake was primo.

There, I have used both desert and dessert in my post today, Ha! I hope I got the spellings correct for you English language teachers.

Wifey is getting prepared for teaching summer vacation bible school tomorrow.

Scott, you wouldn't want to wash that great patina off the old girl.

Billy, more Della pics please?

Popgadget, I'm starting to believe you have 36 hours in a day....tig welds look better than mine by far.
I'm wanting to get a small spool of hard facing wire, to run a couple of beads on my lawnmower blades, then sharpen them. A friend is telling me it works wonders for staying sharp longer. He shoots for 60 Rockwell finished. my research says a limit of 4 layers of hard facing max. I know TXDon had a pile of blades from his zero turn that were good blades initially, but his sandy land blasted them dull.

The lone Peahen gets vocal when she gets left behind by the 2 chickens. Right now, the 6 month old ducks are my best bug eaters, but the mallard is eating too many katydids, of which we have a huge population explosion of. Daughter has had to massage the mallard's gullet, to get the bulge to go down. My drive is stone, so they have plenty of gizzard stone available. Katydids are everywhere and loud most of the day. They used to be kind of rare, and make great fishing bait.

PJS, glad to see you're still here every so often.

Anyone have any recommendations on any series on Netflix? We just re- signed up again after being off for the last half year or so.

David, glad your babysitters took good care of your place/pups. Hope you make headway on the relationship with your son/DIL/grandaughter. and your grass cutting equipment.

L4N, glad your sending back the heart monitor, hope everything is ticking like a good watch.

Prayers for our team.

86°F and sunny this evening. Got up to 96° here today. I think the influx of clouds in the early afternoon shielded us from reaching the triple digits. Looks like more 90s all week through Saturday. We'll be doing a lot of watering here as well.

Got out early enough to get the pasture mowed this morning before it got too hot. Been a couple of weeks because of rain, so it was thick and tall, and slow going. Took me about 2-1/2 hours to mow 1-1/4 acre. But, it's done.

Took a trip to Tractor Supply in Carlyle this evening to pick up chicken feed. No one there. Parking lot was empty, and I had the store to myself. First time I've ever experienced that. May have to start going on Sunday evenings all the time.

PJS, glad to see you're still here every so often.
Thanks, Kyle. It's hard to not come here, but I have less time available these days. This thread is still my favorite place on the internet. You guys are like friends I've never met.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 5.4C and it's presently 12.8C, fairly clear and the wind has abated to a steady breeze. Wind chill yesterday meant that the house was 'locked up', unless I went outside for a pipe or Penelope the Pussybeast wanted 'out'.

I can hear the 'pounding surf' from the coast, easily 8-9km away from me. It sorta sounds like the 'dull roar' from a far away major highway.

The only scheduled thing for today is a Parish Council meeting @ 1645.

That's about it, take care all.

LS, that's the Ohio Farm.
Bad news is the tractor appears to be loosing Hydraulic Fluid, just don't know where. It's down about 2" from the full mark, i have to check in the fill hole. but I never got it full, so don't know how fast it's leaking. When he blew the rotary mower gear box (due to not using proper shear bolt) he might have done more damage. maybe leaking at PTO seal, not sure. nothing apparent.

headed out to find the pump and oil reservoir for the rv hydraulic stabilizers.
hard to believe I haven't seen it yet, they must have buried it.
They say they like to put in between the frame, underneath, so probably have to crawl under to see it.
