Swung by the Fedex terminal today, and picked up my parts myself (as I requested).
Thanked the guy who helped me yesterday and early this morning, just before he went off-shift. Had a chat, with the lady who processed my paperwork @ the Counter. Fedex Ground and Express divisions have only merged in Canada, about 5 weeks ago. Truck systems aren't now well integrated, and many of their drivers don't really speak English, much or at all. The merger may just be a small-market (Canada) thing, or, many companies test business rollouts in Canada, before flipping the switch in the USA - if you depend a lot on Fedex in the USA, you might want to keep an eye on the business news for a merger reference, your side of the 49'th.
Also was told @ the Terminal today, that half a dozen or so people showed up at their Terminal late-day yesterday, who also received wrong Terminal Address notifications spit out by automatic notification. IT sounds wonky up here, @ the moment..... Fedex built a new Ground terminal in that city a couple of years ago, and their system seems to have reverted to the old terminal address.
I like the Rock database, and product availability, but tend to view their Customer non-interaction stance as a 2024 Version of Henry Ford I's take on colour choice on the T's....
Fedex is often the cheapest option on Rock, but delivery is def lacking these days. One box even had a map printed by a counter-person taped to it.... clearly showed the route from the terminal to my house..... still couldn't Get It Done. I'll have to check next order, but I'm thinking USPS options don't work up here (?).
Rgds, D.
