Ok, this is what I got. I decided to get the tractor off the trailer and try dragging it a bit. Hooked the side by side up to it on concrete. With it completely in neutral and easing it forward, it rolled with a couple catchy spots then I we stopped. Now, I put it into 6th gear and depressed clutch and told my daughter to put some tension on and go for it. Tires stopped spinning and side by side was dragging the non free wheeling tractor. Popped to back out of gear and daughter began pulling again then I depressed clutch and dumped it into 6th (could hear gears grind prior to going into gear) then the rear tires locked up again. So, with this, thoughts? Clutch froze?

And again, we are back to splitting the tractor since page 8 of this thread.

It wasn't a fair try the first time I tried it on gravel, so I wanted to do it on concrete first. I wasn't able to really do this back on page 8

Good data.

Clutch, or flywheel would be my guess, and yes that brings back the idea of splitting the tractor to get to them.

All the best,

Peter

Try turning that pump shaft yet? Read back real quick and don't see that mentioned. If not just unbolt the Hyd. pump itself and it should only be a couple and pull back off the shaft. Then your know your splitting it. Should be super easy and only minutes to check it.
Easier than the Radiator to do it if I recall looking at the Pic.. Not stuck may as well order some new rings with that head gasket and clutch parts. Then that motor will last another 40+Yrs. Make it worth the while. The nasty Bell houseing was the first real sign of the problem.

I thought about pulling the hydraulic pump, but didn't know if messing with something under pressure would be smart of me

I figured that but your see how easy it would be compared to the Radiator. That chain must not have much wear to it. With the link/clip no wanting to come out. Good thing again! That pump will slide off that shaft. From out of the Eng. Pulley Coupler or the pump itself. Then the good thing is you covered pretty much all possibilities! Super Nasty Bell housing LOL.. True though!

The hydraulic system will not be under pressure without the engine driving the pump and a valve restricting it's flow.

Ok, I will give that a try sometime today......then, I'm going to study over the mid section of this tractor and ponder long and hard on whether I want to give a split a try

Wouldn't be real hard for anyone that has right jacks , jigs and space.
You'll have to hold the tractor in 2 parts while pulling apart which could get tricky.
