Where do you buy tires? What brands to avoid.

As silly as it sounds, I bought my last rear tire for my 8N Ford on-line from Walmart. Great price and free delivery.

One of the tire manufacturers on Amazon is BKT. It is an Indian company. The tires are made in Mexico. They make OEM tires for John Deere and JCB. The ones I need are $135 each. Free delivery.

I'm considering ordering these and mounting them myself. If they turn out to be garbage then I'll be out less than a single Goodyear.

BKT’s are fine. Good mid-grade tire. For what you are doing, they will work great.

I went to the local tire shop (20 yrs ago) and the R1 fronts were on site the next morning. If the wholesalers have them, they will be delivered asap. This has been my experience with all the tires I have bought. Decide what brand and tread pattern, check on price, check availability and order. My friend could not get the tires (size n/a) he wanted last month, back ordered, he picked a different brand. Seems to be the way now with a lot of things.

I have a dealership nearby who could do everything but I'm assuming that would be very expensive.

Don't ASSUME, ask.
The Kubota dealer in Virginia where I bought my backhoe from sourced good tires at lower prices than I could find anywhere else, including online. Three other Kubota dealers (2 in Virginia, one in Mississippi) I checked with wanted twice as much.

Out west here we have an excellent tire dealer - Les Schwab. I get all my truck and tractor tires from them.

Toyo for the truck and Goodyear or Firestone for the tractor.

You want to play the game and be safe - you will pay the price. One way or the other.

Never mounted any tractor tires and don't plan on it either. Again, I leave that up to my ag tire man and his equipment, but then my tractor tires are pretty large and heavy. He knows what he's doing and has the proper tools. I don't and candidly don't want to. I get my tires from him as well. I certainly don't mind paying him for the service at all.

I replaced all four 20 year old Titan R4s on the on the TC40DA last year. Went back with Titan R4s. Cost was $2,000 at a tire shop that is a Titan dealer. Figure they will last me as long as I need them. Tractor is now stored under cover so it should minimize weather damage.

I just reshod one of my M9's with Trelleborg radials and 4 were north of 5 grand.

As to tractor tires, everything I've purchased in the last 12 years has been Carlisle brand. I never even looked to see if they're regional (I'm not terribly far from Carlisle PA), or more likely... they're made in China. But they seem to have every size, widely carried, and usually can be found at reasonable prices online. I mount my own, except once when purchasing with a new tractor, but my tractors are a heck of a lot smaller than what some of you guys are running.

If you are so inclined, next time I buy tires for either of my M9's, YOU can come and mount them. I'd like to see that actually. Gonna be buying another set this fall btw.
