Morning all, 80 going up to 96 and sunny-unusual heat wave.
The Molds and tape came off pretty well from the table.
Filled in some gaps on the backside of the table with glue/sawdust.
Did another round of sanding.

Today - finish sanding patches and coat bottom with spar varnish.
Still need to decide whether varnish or epoxy-resin for top.

Been seeing al lot of the three fawns, out back this morning with their two moms in the woods.

Glad you got your wallet back Mostly - Happy Birthday!

Back to work for me,

Be well,

Good morning! Low of 54°, heading up to 87°. 30% chance of a t-storm. Didn't get any rain yesterday, disappointing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to Mostly Gas. Glad you got your wallet back!

Buppies, hope you have a good trip back home, be safe.

Paul, nice progress on the install. Bet it was hot up in the attic. Not something enjoyable for sure!

Wng, have a good time with Della.

Got about half of the weedwacking done, so more of the same on the agenda for today.

The baby birds are getting ready to fledge. One flew over to the next rafter space over from the nest.... then a panic to try and get back. They finally made it after about 6 tries. We are definitely being entertained by these guys. Especially watching mama trying to stuff a 5lb bug into a 2lb chick!

I better get moving to beat the heat!
Everyone have a great day!

At the Appraisal hearing they took away my smoking gun by not allowing any sales information after April 2024 (we bought in May 2024) however I was prepared and had a list from my realtor of all the homes similar to ours that sold in the last few years, which they could use. The county's Comparisons were computer generated and I pointed out the flaws in their fantasy values. I got the market value reduced to the sales price this year, a win for us, since they were about 30% over. Yeah.

good news about the tax appraisal Don.
you did your homework and it paid off
when dealing with bureaucracy, paperwork counts

back after lunch with friends, I picked up some Jersey Mikes hoagies,
turkey and american cheese for them (they eat the blandest food possible)
and a chicken cheese steak for me. Ate half the cheese steak and let's say it's
sitting heavily at the bottom of my stomach.

dropped off the rv stabilizer at the hydraulics shop, very nice place, no charge for an estimate.
they will call me at some point.

Ken what are your pros/cons for picking top finish?
the resin is much more finicky to work with, but lasts longer than varnish by years if done right.
A bad pour/layer would be extremely difficult to remove, if it can be removed at all.

Resin can be much thicker and is harder, so less chance of damage once dried.
Sanding Resin is more difficult to get a sheen than varnish. I proved that last night on the back of the table removing some overspill.

Hard to use a brush on resin (plastic spreader), easy with varnish.

Resin is more likely to have tiny bubles the larger the surface, need a heat gun to disperse.
