Anyone spray Fluid Film under their car or truck with a garden sprayer?

Fluid film been used on the farm for as long as I can remember. When replacing batteries I will coat the whole tray heavily and the terminals once hooked up.
Battery trays are an interesting topic. By neglecting to implement and connect a simple $1 rubber vent tube, which would safely vent any spill-out below the tray, we all routinely deal with rotted metal battery trays. Pure evil laziness, on the part of most tractor and mower manufacturers.

no you don't maybe a day after doing a car, all the power to you if you want to try a garden sprayer, i can't even imagine the amount of pumping, my compressor runs non stop
I'm not going to try to spray with a garden sprayer because have told me it won't work. If I could figure out what to thin it with Ii might try that.

They sell aerosol cans of FF so there must be some solvent that would work.

There's a guy that travels out here once a year with a portable lift and sprays trucks with Krown oil. He works from a base at a local farm and guys seem pretty happy with the Krown spray. Maybe I'll have him spray the truck.

Some don't like it. I find it pleasant, especially compared to regular paint.
How's it compare to the Gold Standard?

Original formula, of course... not that new crap.

An alternative may be "used" anti-rust film. My local Krown Rust Control captures all the overflow from spraying cars/trucks. Filters and separates any water and large contaminents. Its too dirty to use on customer vehicles, but great for construction/ag equipment.

^ This. When I find a bit of rust under the truck, it gets a quick wire brush, then rusty metal primer and black paint. The rusty metal primer has acids in it that supposedly halt rust and bond very well to it, based on my experience using them the last ~10 years.

Do note "rust reformer" is for things so rusted they're almost beyond saving. The "rusty metal" primer is likely the one most of you want.

I need to do 'something' with my 3500, winter road treatment is starting to rust the frame. I have used POR 15 on some other projects, but the idea of a quick brush and simplicity of rustoleum spray can sounds appealing.

About to replace the exhaust from turbo back with a stainless exhaust and muffler, would be a real good time to do a bit of clean up and some rust prevention. Thinking I can always spray FF after. Not so sure the frame can be easily 're blacked' after FF is on it.

That's why I want to use a garden sprayer and stay as far away from getting that smell all over me. I'll smell forever.

For years I've just wiped it off my hands with a dry cloth and kept working.

My hands are still rust-free.

I sure don't envy you guys up north! Every time I watch a Youtube of someone working on a rust bucket from the northland, I remember why I don't move back to Minnesota where I lived my 1st 18 years! Here in Oklahoma, rust is not much of a problem, I seldom need a hot wrench to fix cars and they last a lot longer than up north. Now, if only I could figure out a way to have more comfortable summer weather here, like you guys have up there!!!

Am I the only one that has this problem with Fluid Film??

I like it and use it. Problem is, my dogs LOVE it too. They will stand there and lick my mower, hitch, tractor linkage, etc. . . . . until they've licked it all off. Seems like it's kinda irresistable to them and watching them lick it off drives me crazy. They will shine up a piece of metal with their tongues.

If I were to spray the underside of a vehicle with it, my dogs would be under there non-stop licking it off. Would be lucky not to run over one of them accidentally.

I try not to park anything coated with FF close to the house for this reason.

I thought about using FF under my truck but it gets pretty warm in my barn and thought it might drip on my cement when it gets hot. Does that ever happen?
