got the portable AC unit (floor model with window exhaust)running right before wife got home. She hates it, doesn't want it taking up space in the room...
Now I gotta decide if I want to use it somewhere else, like in the garage, or just return it.

getting real windy outside, hear thunder. radar shows a storm popped up just to the south of us, but won't give us rain.
wind stopped as sudden as it started, sun back out. storm missed us... temp did drop to 83deg.

My motivation just hit a brick wall.

Good Afternoon Dennis,
We have one on the second floor in a room that the kids occasionally take naps in ! I’m not really a fan of that type of unit but I didn’t want a window unit hanging out the front window ! This unit is also kind of noisy, so my wife is not crazy about it either !

Got the lawn cut while it was 95 degrees, wife thought I was crazy, but it really needed to be done !

Hope all have a good evening!!🙏

I have (2) 12k BTU floor units that we have used over the years during summer power outages. We've also loaned them out to friends in need. I would not be without at least one portable unit.

I only got an 8K unit, as it was meant for a rather small room. I'll probably just hang on to it. I use a window unit sometimes in the garage, might put this one there. I only got it for when the upstairs can't keep up, like when it gets in mid 90's.

I have a 12k unit, I made a sheet metal box for the top with two 4” flexible hoses. It looks like the robot from lost in space.

But it’s really handy for blowing cool air into a vehicle you are working in, or any other enclosed space. It’s presently on permanent loan to a friend that uses it in his auto shop.
I got it for free, I was supposed to reclaim the refrigerant so it could be scrapped, but fixed it instead.

. Did not even leak test. He said that is where the leak is. Maybe he is related to Popg.

Those connections really have to be done correctly. You have to use a burnishing type flaring tool and Nylog lube/sealant.
It’s a very safe bet that a leak on a Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, or other major league offering is on the line set.

I can't imagine turning around in St Louis after traveling across the Plains and then have to do it again. Sounds like a very unhappy trip to me
Even worse if the a/c goes out and you have to spend time in THIS heat.
stopped at the lumber yard to look at their wood ceiling material and decking. They carry the 2 mid grade trexSelect, and several other brands of composite decking. He said no one around here buys the high end trex Transcend, just too expensive. He said wood is 1/3 the cost of the mid grade I looked at. Lowes carries the low end TrexEnhance. They can order anything.
Their wood ceiling is 3/4" bead on one side, v groove on the other, 6" I only looked at a short sample and already forgot the price he told me. will have to call them back. I gave me a trex sample. going to put it in the sun and take some temperature comparisons.
I think I wrote it before but I put up a "sample" deck about 15 years ago.
I was tearing off my old deck horizontals. Bought enough SYP-PT for my 12x16 deck. About the same time Home Depot got in a (new to me) some of the Trex type composite. And priced it just slightly higer than SYP-PT. So I bought enough to build a 8x16 deck for a Lifetime shed I had just bought from Costco. Built it and didn't use any treatment, paint or stain.
Both the shed and the deck are still holding up very well. No deterioration at all.
Meanwhile the wood deck I built has gotten 4 "rejuvenations", power washing, sanding, resealing, etc.

I had Eufy cameras for a while, chosen mainly because they were Apple HomeKit friendly. They were battery only, and I got rid of them. Sounds like the current crop can be powered via USB. One pitfall many people seem to fall into is not checking the video from their cameras to verify that they can actually capture enough detail to identify a face or license plate. A 1080P camera will only do that close up, and 4K range can also be surprisingly short. Also, WiFi range can be a problem, too, as can POI power if you're using Ethernet cameras. If people were honest, it would sure save us all a lot of complication.
Thanks for the heads up on Eufy, I'll start out with just a doorbell camera. It is hard to figure out what cameras are plug-in because they just say wired and that could mean plug-in or hard wire it into existing spotlight. I have outlets in the eves where I need to mount the outside cameras.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good WiFi extender.

Same experience here with composite decks. rebuilt 3 balconies about 15 years ago and no deterioration
