Good Morning!!!! 86F @ 9:00AM Sunny. High 107F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Dad got mom an Olds Delta 88, I think in about '65 or '66. That winter she spun it 360° on ice in an intersection, and refused to drive it again. By the next summer she had a '67 Ford Country Squire wagon woodie, the car I would later learn to drive in.
Your timing was just about perfect, PH. Great video, watched it full screen.
Fooled around with the solar panel up at the gate yesterday. Changed it out for a new one, but no improvement in charging. Used the multi-meter on the connectors to the panel, and the ground wasn't conducting through the connector. Thought it might be the female side, so gave it a little squeeze with a pliers, but still no joy. All my solar stuff is still up here, so I changed out the female side of the connector and now it's working like it should. Sure glad I didn't have to pull the wire out. It runs inside a 20' pole, then underground for about 15'. What a mess that would have been.
By then it was hot enough I didn't want to be in the sun any longer, so I started spackling holes in the garage walls and ceilings where storage shelves had been. Must have done at least a hundred of 'em, and that was only about a third of the garage. Also repaired the pair of 6" holes cut by the PO to vent a portable A/C unit he used to cool his dope crop. I was trying to do it with a putty knife and not having much luck. Looked in the box of painting supplies and found a 10" drywall knife that was just right. Not a perfect job, but good enough under the spray on texture I'll use to finish it. About then the heat drove me back inside. Spackled a few more holes on the inside walls that I'll touch up with paint today.
Up early and got a transmission oil filter changed on the
M62 before it gets too hot. Service manual says to drain the transmission first, but I put a bucket under the filter, which sits sideways, and let whatever oil was in the filter drain into the bucket. I also hooked a shop vac up to the oil add hole, but I don't think that helped much. Regardless, glad to have that done with less than a pint of oil lost, not even enough to show on the dip stick.
Probably do more spackling in the garage this morning yet, not sure what I'll get into this afternoon, other than it'll be inside the house.
Monday, Monday...
