2210
Due to the U-joints, I had to replace the HST with an ebay used unit. Bought the 2210 tech manual and can not find the torque specs for the HST bolts and 2 nuts mounting it back on.

Page 247 says SCV Mounting Torque (Socket Head Capscrews) at 35 ft lbs. but I dont think that is what those bolts are called.
Page 11 has general torque specs for different grade bolts, but I have no idea how to interpret that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just bought it used and this has been a stressful and expensive project to get a 20 year old tractor going again.

Hopefully I can sell the HST with the broken shaft for someone else to replace the shaft to recover some of the expense of the used unit.

If the TM doesn't specifically call out the torque spec for the HST mounting hardware you are assembling , you'll need to measure the thread size/pitch and determine the bolt grade then reference the general torque spec page. Do you have the means to determine the thread size? If not, take one of the fasteners to a hardware store and find a nut that fits. It will probably be metric (M8, M10, etc). The grade will be stamped on the head: 8.8, 10.9, etc.

Once you know what size/grade the fastener is, reference the general torque spec. Use "dry" data (not lubricated). Don't get stressed. Bring up the tension evenly and you'll be good. Bolt tension is what we actually care about (and you can't actually know that outside of a lab); torque is what we measure to get there (and it's just an estimate).

I went with the chart on page 11. For grade 7 bolts it said 14 foot lbs. for aluminum. Seems low but I have no other choice as I need to get this together. I hope it doesnt leak.

Well, It works. Surprised I got all that work done. I hope the HST is filled with oil because I did not not fill it individually. No leaks for now and it seems quieter with the new napa ujoints in. They were super tight to get the snap rings in, but all seems ok. I had no choice, as I had to sell my motorcycle to just afford the $1700 in parts. The $2-3,000 labor bill was not doable. An experienced mechanic could have done that whole job in less than 6 hours, so I have no idea why JD charges so much......Along with the woke ideology, moving jobs overseas, the original U joint fiasco (non greasable zerks) and the overcharging for labor, I am turning against JD at this point.

If the new U-joints are Moog with the zerk in the end caps, you will probably find your problems are over. I replaced the originals on mine at about 900 hours, not because they were bad but to make it easier to lube. The only catch with the end cap zerks is that they will tend to get ejected if not well seated. I threw a couple early on but then used loc-tite and tightened them well.
