It wont help the image of them in YOUR mind. (Nor mine) Yet in THEIR mind, they are someone if they make some noise with their V8 pickup.

Same as the retards who kick their VW Rabbit or Honda Civic with inwards leaning wheels and an airfoil still in gray primecoat, and their license plate rattling along with the subwoofer bass box that takes up their entire trunk space, into the rev limiter on the local Mcdonalds parking lot... To me it sounds like a fart with some liquid content, but in their mind it makes them the cool kids...

What we found is that a standard half ton, has a rear suspension tuned for comfort, geared towards the soccer mom who puts the sweaty gear in the back, or the weekend offroader who wants soft, long travel suspension to keep all fours in contact with the ground in difficult terrain.

What our customer found is that If you really want to tow with it, you need suspension upgrades on your half ton.

It wouldn't be just for towing.

I bought air springs for my '14 Ram 1500 since with just five cases of water in the back I rightfully should have adjusted the headlights for the drive home from the store.

Oh well, I sold that car before installing them so they're still in the box. And yes, I wrote "car". To me it was a car with a bed on the back, much like an El Camino.

So, i understand the US desire for heavy tow vehicles, if you get by with questionable electric brakes, sometimes on one axle.

There's a reason I order my larger trailers with electric over hydraulic disc brakes. But for small trailers basic electric brakes have served me well.

Also, if the trailer has leaf springs with balance beams, brakes on only the rear axle isn't half bad. It's when only the front axle has brakes that they become all but useless.

Each has it's air brakes working. Plus the 5th wheel distributes the weight onto the drive axles, rather than the bumper.

On a Goldwing forum I was on, many of us pulled campers with our Goldwing and many said we were crazy pulling something like that.

On some rv forums, some think you have to have a semi to pull a big fifth wheel rv.

Even one person in this thread that will not tow with a 1/2 ton pickup because they think it shouldn’t.

Some do need the bigger truck! A bigger tow vehicle can sometimes make up for a lack of common sense or skill, such as driving too fast for conditions.

Just consider how many bad drivers you encounter in the average month or year, and then remember they're all licensed to tow a trailer up to 10,000 lb.

After HS a friend (who's father was an undertaker) bought a Chevy van. He drove around with a rubber hand sticking out from between the rear doors.

Somehow this picture reminded me of that.. perhaps because if that appliance decides to move, there may be a severed arm lying in the road.
