Good Morning!!!! 68F 2 4:30AM. Sunny. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
It's supposed to cool down substantially for the end of the week up here, and maybe even get a spritz of rain on Friday. First hint of Fall?
When I am at the top of the pedal stroke my upper leg is level. With my butt on the seat the ball of my foot is on the ground instead of my tippy toes.
Everybody's different when it comes to ergonomics, Bill. I pedal with the balls of my feet, a habit enforced by cleats, or in the old days, toe straps and cages. The seat height is set with me sitting on the bike, leaning against a wall or other support. Knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke. YMMV on "slightly", but that gets me in the ballpark for maximum efficiency.
I'm with you on ladders and heights, Drew. I especially don't like getting onto the Promaster van roof from a step ladder. Even worse is getting off. Nine feet up is a long way down, and I don't bounce nearly as well as I used to. There never seems to be anyone around to spot for me when I engage in those kinds of gymnastics, but at least I make sure the cell phone is in my pocket. Just have to avoid landing on it...
I'd be more than annoyed if a dealer tried to pull that crap on me or an SO, David. I'd have a heated discussion with the service manager, and probably start shopping for another dealer.
wondering whether replacing a five year old radiator cap makes any sense if it works ok. Same thing with thermostat.
you know it will fail, but when?
Good that you bought them and will take them along so you don't end up stuck in BFE waiting on parts.
I got almost all the wooden parts of the gate fence painted yesterday, but just realized I didn't do the tops of the three new posts. So that's on today's agenda. Also saw that there's some rust showing through on the gate itself, so will pick up a few cans of Rustoleum and paint that on the next visit.
Today I need to grease the FEL on the tractor, and that means getting the van close enough to the garage to plug in the compressor that's been sitting in the van for a month or more. The thing is just too heavy to load and unload easily, and I need it at both ends of the commute. That'll balloon into unloading the van, sweeping the floor, and repacking so there's enough room for a couple of pallets of firewood and some empty wooden pallets to stack it on at the other end. That'll probably be it for today.
Wow, Hump Day already.
