Good morning! 73˚F. Glad to see reports of cooler weather after our hottest day of the year yesterday, 105.8˚F. Today is going to be another 105˚ day but then a gradual cool down to a hundred and upper 90s by the weekend. The pool temp is still staying at 92˚ in spite of the hot temps because of the longer nights. Yard got mowed yesterday and now will try to paint a blue bedroom alabaster before next week.

Good news on your mother wngsprd.

Good Morning!!!! 68F 2 4:30AM. Sunny. High 93F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
It's supposed to cool down substantially for the end of the week up here, and maybe even get a spritz of rain on Friday. First hint of Fall?

When I am at the top of the pedal stroke my upper leg is level. With my butt on the seat the ball of my foot is on the ground instead of my tippy toes.
Everybody's different when it comes to ergonomics, Bill. I pedal with the balls of my feet, a habit enforced by cleats, or in the old days, toe straps and cages. The seat height is set with me sitting on the bike, leaning against a wall or other support. Knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke. YMMV on "slightly", but that gets me in the ballpark for maximum efficiency.

I'm with you on ladders and heights, Drew. I especially don't like getting onto the Promaster van roof from a step ladder. Even worse is getting off. Nine feet up is a long way down, and I don't bounce nearly as well as I used to. There never seems to be anyone around to spot for me when I engage in those kinds of gymnastics, but at least I make sure the cell phone is in my pocket. Just have to avoid landing on it...

I'd be more than annoyed if a dealer tried to pull that crap on me or an SO, David. I'd have a heated discussion with the service manager, and probably start shopping for another dealer.

wondering whether replacing a five year old radiator cap makes any sense if it works ok. Same thing with thermostat.
you know it will fail, but when?
Good that you bought them and will take them along so you don't end up stuck in BFE waiting on parts.

I got almost all the wooden parts of the gate fence painted yesterday, but just realized I didn't do the tops of the three new posts. So that's on today's agenda. Also saw that there's some rust showing through on the gate itself, so will pick up a few cans of Rustoleum and paint that on the next visit.

Today I need to grease the FEL on the tractor, and that means getting the van close enough to the garage to plug in the compressor that's been sitting in the van for a month or more. The thing is just too heavy to load and unload easily, and I need it at both ends of the commute. That'll balloon into unloading the van, sweeping the floor, and repacking so there's enough room for a couple of pallets of firewood and some empty wooden pallets to stack it on at the other end. That'll probably be it for today.

Wow, Hump Day already.

Things are looking up for my mom. She should be released from the hospital Thurs or Friday. Lou, thanks for sharing your experience.

Mowed for 3 hours...grass tall now that we got a couple of decent rains. But first, tried to plug leak in rear zero turn tire tread. Still leaks. Hole kinda big. Had fixed a year ago, but always slow leak. Replaced the plug twice yesterday. Any body ever tried to use two plugs at the same time? Or maybe I can find bigger ones...or maybe there will be a better approach when I get time to research.
Put first plug in hole, cut off the excess plug sticking through the casing and put a boot on the inside. Use lots of glue on the plug. Let it all cure good BEFORE you air up the tire. That should hold it until you get around to getting a new tire.

RNG, back when I had the old CCM single speed I had 'rat trap' pedals and again on the 10 spd I had in my late 20s and 30s. I liked the rat trap pedals when I was a kid because my 'friends' wouldn't 'borrow' my bike. They hated those pedals. Ya, I know, questionable friends. I got the rat traps right after I busted my knee racing. RTs and a strap and I could do all my peddling with one leg. Cut the pedal off the other side so my casted leg didn't get caught up in the pedal. It was on the left side. Still kept the bearing retainer. I had two identical bikes except the other one had boogered up front forks (the reason I was sporting a busted knee). 12 weeks in a cast, 6 in hospital and another 6 on the street.
That accident is probably part of the reason why the left knee is giving me all kinds of grief now. Oh well, live and learn.

Morning all, 57 going to 73 and sunny. Getting downright chilly.
Some general pool cleanup.
Had to get wifes tires replaced, 30,000 miles and worn down to belt on one of them ....another $1000 away. Will need to replace Jeep tires before winter too...

L4N - Seems like a QC miss on the bike. Have you contacted the company yet?

Good news on your mom Wngsprd

Be well,
New landscapers doing an awful job, but they don't charge anything, just a few flowers.

I got this pic sent to me from the SIL. I just replaced the water pump and did an oil change. I'll head over today, to see what happened "this time"... Looks to be leaking further back from "where I was", so I'm thinking a hydraulic hose. It's pretty old, as I am getting. He's eyeing a new/bigger unit, which would be nice.
