Could be the injection timing as well.

It still wouldn't do a cold start without the glow plugs. The timing marks showed that it was slightly retarted. I advanced it a bit and it started this morning without using the glow plugs. If I didn't use the glow plugs it would just crank and let out white smoke.

I moved the pump about two notches which I think is two degrees.

Exactly. My kioti uses glow plugs whenever i start it for first time…even in summer and 95° out side.

YOU GUYS SHOULD READ WHOLE THE POST BEFORE YOU COMMENT. Like the opening post says, the glow plugs are computer controlled, they don't come on until it is near the freezing mark. I bypassed this and can turn them on manually, that's the only way it would start when the engine was cold.

Mine are also computer controlled, but if you hold the key to just before start position, the glow plugs operate to bypass. The computer always cycles them on though even in summer, but for less time than winter. Im surprised that the computer doesnt cycle them on a cold block no matter what the temp is.

The computer controls them on my Kubota also, I only see the GP light come on when it is near freezing. It starts quickly without the glow plugs coming on.

I actually thought the glow plugs weren't working on this mower. I went to move it one day when it was around the freezing mark, the curly symbol came up on the dash when I turned on the key.
