But one thing you will never get past is how FUGLY those Tesla's are!! :poop:
Just like Jeep... Form sometimes has to follow function.

I have been told how Ugly my Jeepsters and J-10 Honchos were/are.

They wouldn't understand it is a Jeep thing.

One of the Jeepsters I pulled the Buick V 6 and put in a warmed over 455 and also built the 401 AMC in the Honcho, both were quick for their day once modded.

Choose to think of them as "Roguish" Good Looks, the Tesla Y see as a new SUPER AWD Beetle and unlike an old Beetle I don't have to breathe any exhaust to have heat.

Stellantis is really putting out turds and having the gall to mark up these turds to Lexus pricing levels.
Almost every automotive mechanic channel I watch puts Jeep as one of the worst reliable vehicles.

I had a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, and it was fun until it got the "death wobble".

We sold two UTV's and purchased the Jeep. I still believe a sed Jeep is a better choice for many folks who buy these $35k+ UTV's. A decent Jeep can be had for $20k and it has a cab, windshield/wipers, heat and A/C. It will not go everywhere a UTV can go but you do not need to trailer it to get to a place to ride it. There were no trails or logging roads where we played that the Jeep did not handle as well as the UTV's.

Getting 18 mpg was a downer on such a small vehicle with a 6 cylinder engine when my F150 with the 5.0 V8 was getting over 20 mpg.

We have never owned any Jeeps newer than 2000 (Five 1970's Wagoneers) but have 2003 and 04 RAM HD's but several family members have newer RAMS they have all been really Good.

edit other than the 2012 2500 HD lemon back to Chrysler over a transmission problem.

2 of our old Jeep Grand Cherokees now owned by friends have over 300,000 miles in fact the 1996 with the 4.0 6 cylinder is quickly closing in on 400K miles. 2 Wranglers in the family just taught the Grandaughter how to change the Auto transmission filter and axles diff fluid on her 02 4.0 Sport. Sister has a 20+ year old Islander and it has never been back to the dealer.

I hear one Ram dealer alone has over 2000 fleet sales trucks that they are trying to turn back. Should be some great deals soon on what would be low option good new work trucks. Stellantis needs to deal with reality on their crazy pricing.

You are the exception, among these canvas-topped tote boxes! :p

My siblings and I each had a Jeep back in the 1990’s, and they were fun, for everyone except the cars stuck behind us.
I have had three Jeeps since 1992, 2 Cherokees and now a Grand Cherokee all with 6 cyl. The straight 6 of the 1992 was indestructible well respected motor. My V6 now did three days straight at much of 80 mph from Canada to Florida last Feb without a glitch ( respectful avg 9.3 litres per 100 km with 3 people and luggage ). .......Can't speak for the Wranglers but I respect them and their looks and function. Just couldn't tow as much as what I needed. ( for towing tractor or UTV or camper)

True death wobble is easily fixed, 98% of the time is due to the trackbar. The F 250's have this same issue as do other solid front axle vehicles.

For the most part they are extremely reliable vehicles, even the newer models. The 3.6 has had major issues with the plastic oil cooler they installed in them but it's an easy fix with an aftermarket metal one and about 3 hours time.

The 6 cylinder in the 2004 vintage Jeeps leak oil frequently. And it is not recommended to repair since the new seal apparently gets torn up from the same wear already present.

Least reliable new vehicles, according to JD Power, as reported by US News:
  • 2024 Volvo XC90 - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 70/100
  • 2024 Tesla Model Y - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 70/100
  • 2024 Mazda CX-50 - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 70/100
  • 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 69/100
  • 2024 Toyota bZ4X - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 64/10
  • 2024 Polestar 2 - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 64/100
  • 2024 Toyota Supra - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 63/100
  • 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 63/100
  • 2024 Cadillac Lyriq - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 60/10
  • 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 - J.D. Power Reliability Score: 54/100
But Jeep does earn a very negative rating for other quality measures and recall counts... just not "reliability", by whatever measure JD Power is using.

Seems like anyone driving a model Y shouldn't be picking on Jeep, at least based on this list, although we could debate the validity and criteria used.
