Good to know an ICE can not burn a house down no matter it is 60 times more likely to catch fire.

Kablam! Can’t convince the ICE fanboys.

What happened to sd455dan’s post stating,

“Data from the National Transportation Safety Board showed that EVs were involved in approximately 25 fires for every 100,000 sold. Comparatively, approximately 1529.9 fires per 100k for ICE vehicles,”
I pulled it because I am still not sure if the numbers are truly 'as Wawa said' apples to apples. If it does include the total number of vehicles on the road the numbers would be heavily skewed against ICE.

Something just seems off with the %.

After seeing the number of 'deaths' per fire when a Tesla does burn (about 1 in 3)? and

I still find that hard to believe as well, (that according to Tesla themselves,) I just deleted the post.

I like my vehicles all of them and don't want to get into a 20 page argument over that post.

If a person is interested in EV's, all I can say is test drive a few, and make sure you at least try a Tesla out of the group you might like it, but if not that is just fine.

Your comparison is like comparing a Shitzu bite fight to a Rottweiler bite, it is apples and oranges when it comes to peripheral damage a EV fire can cause and expense and danger to extinguish. But you as a Tesla " fan boy " are blind to that aspect.
BS. I own only ICE’s, but if any one of them catches fire in my garage, I don’t think my response will be, “at least it’s not an EV.

And Tesla ranks among the highest.............. for insurance cost

We had a loaner Toyota RAV4 Hybrid for a few days while the wife's ICE RAV4 was at the dealer for a minor recall issue. I think I could get along very well with a RAV4 Hybrid with the low insurance cost and ability to use gas.

I obviously wasn't clear about the intensity of the fire and difficulty for fire depts to put out, I said nothing about " at least it's not an EV" not sure how you assumed that ?

Well, the Model Y needs a better suspension.

And Tesla needs to learn how to make automatic windshield wipers work right. Their use of the FSD cameras isn't getting the job done.
I'm in that boat where I don't really trust the auto high beams on my wife's car.

I've found them to be quirky

I sure don't trust automatic windshield wipers. Would the camera turn them on because you just drove through a bunch of bugs and then smear them all over the windshield???

I'll turn them on when I need them, and adjust the intermittent level for my needs.

The level of technology that's been added into my wife's 2023 SanteFe, is unreal.

Some of it I like. Some of it, I find to be annoying, some I find to be distracting.

I'm dodging pot holes or tractor trailer tires out on the highway and the car tells me I need to take a coffee break

Nice try.
You can’t take an overall statistic you scalped off the net and infer it to a specific circumstance of being parked in a garage…where it could “burn the house down”.

Ice vehicles very rarely self combust, sitting parked in a garage.

Battery vehicles on the other hand, are connected to high amperage power, being charged in the garage, which raises the odds of starting a house fire considerably.

We get off peak electricity at 0.05c a kwh. So it only cost about $5 to go about 250-60 miles as long as we are charging at home.
5 cents doesn’t sound right for the cost of electricity. Are you taking your total electric bill and dividing it by your total kwh?
That gives you your actual cost per kWh.
My guess is you’re only stating the off peak energy price, which is misleading.

In NH I’m paying just over 24 cents a KWh. The energy portion is about 50% of that.

Sometimes they wipe a dry windshield. Yesterday they ran on high for a light drizzle after heavy rain.

Automatic wipers on 2009 Mercedes-Benz worked perfectly.
