Good morning, the low is 39 and going to a high of 50°F. Zero wind. 30% chance of showers. Raining now.
September 7/8 is a tad early for snow, but it wont stick. The ground is far from frozen. Temps are going back up to the high 70s next week.
It only takes one night of good frost and the rut will start. This is the second most dangerous time for Moose to be on the road. The bulls only have one thing they care about and if they are standing on the road when you round a corner at speed at night you had better either have good lights or good brakes. They WILL NOT move until they are good and ready to move or they get spooked by straight pipes or something that sounds like bang, bang. Ask me how I know. I've come close a few times. They will be in the ditch and all of a sudden they are in front of you on the road.
Most of the cars and trucks that run northern Ontario and Quebec have illegal 'Moose lights', yes they are illegal, no the cops don't ticket you as long as you don't go around blinding other drivers.
I had mine on the Freightliner on two switches, one for the right side and the other for the left. That way I could see what was coming out of the ditch and still have the left side off and didn't blind the oncoming vehicles.
Enough about Bullwinkle, swamp donkeys, Moose or whatever else you want to call them.
Have a safe day all
