Good Morning,
Ct, 49 to start going to 67 ! Totally sunny with low humidity and bright blue skies !

Started my day with the early service at church, good worship with prayers for all our flood victims ! And of course their ongoing battle to get their homes and businesses back on line ! 🙏

Scotty as many of us know, you need the right tool to get the job done.
Indeed Kyle, I knew I was going to need an impact gun to remove the anode rod, rather than fool around I just bought it !
Feel better soon !

Last nights concert went well considering that it was held inside ! Probably had between 50 to 75 guests ! Food receipts were only $188 but we also received $237 in donations ! So a moderate success !

Youngest son and DIL went to the Giants game so we have 2 of our grands for the day ! May take them to an amusement park with rides ! We will see how it goes !

Hope all have a blessed Sunday ! 🙏

Nice bird pix Ron. Presume that is a cardinal? Looks like he has a racing stripe!

The "Davis fire" is burning south of Reno, NV. Ignited at 2pm yesterday and was 2,000 acres by midnight. Yikes we have a "red flag warning" for high winds as of 11am this morning. Smoke everywhere, we could see flames from our house last night. Then power went out. Utility company shut off power to 20,000 people. Went to bed not knowing what might happen.

Power on this morning. The fire is at the edge of expensive homes in a golf course community called Arrowcreek. We have friends there. In the nice part a $1M home is considered starter, probably $2M average, high end $4M and up. Lots of expensive real estate at risk. Hope they get a handle on this and no firefighters get injured. To the east, historic Virginia City is also at risk, depending on which way the wind blows.
Well I hope that they are all spared from the fire. Especially Virginia City, that was beautiful when I went up through there and around the area back in the late 70's.

I will also say this, no HOME is worth as million dollars. They might be getting that in these inflated times, but they are not worth it. Depending when a person gets their home they will only most likely be in it for 50 years on the outside.

When I was 7 years old my parents moved to SW county of Roanoke Va. That would be 1960 and a family moved across the street who was a professional football player for the Baltimore Colts starting offensive guard. As a youngster I got to catch passes from Johnny Unitas throw passes to Raymond Berry, Tom Matte and others. Very fond memories but became disenchanted when they went on strike. The guys I met would have prayed for free because they loved the game that much so they told me. Wonderful times

Good morning! Low of 48°, heading up to 80°, dry and sunny.

Most of the tree trimming got done, with the help of the 2 GS. They picked up every branch and twig and took them to the tractor bucket (75-100'). Still have 2 more willows to trim up today.

Going to spray the trees today to try and get rid of the aphid infestation. Still not sure of how to spray the soap mix. Probably trial and error.

After the trimming is done, need to finish transplanting some smaller shrubs. We do have smaller pots. No word yet on when the bigger pots will arrive.

Drew, beautiful pics! That plastic box may be an "air gap vent". Do you have a black tank flush? That is where they are predominantly used.
Basically, when you charge the flush, it closes and sends the water into the flush nozzles. When the pressure is off, the valve opens and drains the remaining water into the tank.
When I used our "flush", it dripped from that box/valve. Not much, but enough for a concern.

Everyone have a peaceful Sunday!

Morning all, 59 going to 71 and sunny.
Glad I turned the heat on in the pool yesterday morning, once the rain stopped the kids all went out there and gave us a chance to clean up.

Son's party went really well, still finding ping pong balls around the property from them playing.
Lot's to clean up around the pool and basement, but all of the food waste is bagged and ready to go out.

Will be a busy day getting everything else packed up and stowed.

RS - that engine looks in amazing shape, is it ready to run?

We drove through Truckee on our trip in late July and it was much cooler that the other areas.
Lake Tahoe was fun, maybe the wind will be calmer if you go there, boat rentals are everywhere, but not cheap.
Need to watch the passes in those areas, quit steep and curvy, but saw many RVs doing just fine.

Kyle - hope the Mrs feels better soon.

Happy birthday to your son Paul/PopGadget

Off to cleanup, be well,

Son in Bruce Springsteen mode with new harmonica set we got him

put on three hose clamps, stopped leaks, simply could not reach the one dripping at very bottom in rear. I simply don't fit in there and this hurts my fused neck. I got the hose clamp in the right spot but can't get angle to tighten it.

decided least dangerous approach was to add hose clamps not mess with crimp connectors. I see what they did, they put some glop on end of male fitting and then crimped the soft hose on top of it.

so I fixed three out of four could not do the fourth.
oh well, stuffed a towel in there, I'm good at that.
maybe I can find a good Samaritan nearby...

and actually I did. Guy my age next door, but smaller, was packing up and I had a dog treat for his dog, and I joked could I bribe your dog and you to be a good samaritan?
well what do you need?
I need a hose clamp tightened and I don't fit in there due to fused neck.
well, let me take a look at it.
this guy is easily my height but he fit down there and said he needed to take
something apart to get the hose clamp on. (uh oh)
I'll post a pic when I can. internet won't let me post pics at times.
appears to be tiny check valve on a spring

and now no leaks at all hooked up to campground water.
yeah.
for the moment

headed out to ride my bike now that job number one got done.

60F and partly cloudy @ 11:30, calling for a high of 68F for the day. Winds out of the WNW @ 10 to 15 mph.

Was rather chilly out there yesterday with the wind.

Got another week's worth of meds doled out first thing.

Refilled hopper and both tube feeders, also scattered seeds for the ground feeders.

Seem to be having a decent crop of mourning doves this year, have seen as many as 8 - 10 at a time out around the feeders and they are looking fat and sassy. Even saw one up on the hopper feeder which is unusual.

Rabbit population has come back as well. Went for quite a few years without seeing any right here around the house. Now regularly see several at a time all around the house ... probably due to an improved cover situation.

Moved large metal bracket out of the way of getting to the overhead door at the shop.

Unloaded the plastic tub and soap wood out of the van and took it up and put it inside the shop:

IMG_3423 copy.jpg

Also moved the pallet of pipe up there, still need to move that inside.

Swapped out the forks for the light material bucket after that.

Trimmed up the low branches on the large redbud on the east side of the house and hauled the trimmings to the brush pile at the back and dumped them.

Got the east side and most of the west side mowed yesterday. Also did the compost/wood lot.

Got the live trap re-baited and set.

Used the Kubota and loader to pull out a couple of ash saplings and a Russian olive. Hauled those up to the brush pile by the shop and dumped them. Pushed the pile further back into the woods while I was at it.

Hauled down 4 - 5 bucketloads of screened compost to the northeast corner of the east side yard to try and patch a couple areas of lawn that have eroded and left maple roots exposed.

Found another 3 volunteer redbuds over by the dying maple where I pulled the Russian olive sapling. Probably around 4' tall.

One of them will be going to a relative, need to figure out where I can transplant the others.

On agenda for today:

Check live trap for customers, swimming lessons if needed.

Spray strawberries and hosta with stink juice.

Spread out and compact the screened compost on lawn areas that need patched and get those seeded and mulched with straw.

Trim some low hanging branches on three oak trees up by the road.

Maybe dig out some of the plants in front of the garage, possibly some of the redbuds as well.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday ... (y)

nice bike ride, flew the drone, got some nice pics, but I can't upload them here. Bike ride a little hazardous since this is all gravel and patched in parts with deeper gravel. The ebike has skinny tires and I really didn't want to pick gravel out of me. But I went all over the campground, one of the prettiest I've seen.
