I think the emission rules reach too far when talking about small hobby farm machinery. With that being said, everything I own with the exception of my dozer has a DPF, and a few also have DEF. At this time, I've had zero issues (combined hours across all machines is approx 4500). I do enjoy the cleaner (is it?) air and low noise as well. Going back to pre emission machinery doesn't really interest me I guess.

I used to get splitting sinus headaches when I operated my old pre-emissions tractor for more than 30 minutes. Now I can operate my tier 4 tractor all day and no headache. I would never own another pre-emissions tractor again.

It’s either that or take allergy pills and sneeze with sinus problems for 48 hours.
I can run my Ford Jubilee all day in a parade without issue as the exhaust is down and out the rear…
The D3 Dozer would give me problems unless respirator used.

Bought a new L3200 in 2012 to get a tractor before final Tier 4. Bought current (used) L4240 to avoid DPF when we went a bit larger in 2019. I heard too much negative early on to be interested in the newer emission standards. Many report trouble-free operation now, but I'm still not sold on it. No sense burning extra fuel to "clean" the DPF.

I would not pay extra or a premium to not have a emissions free tractor !
But of course that is coming from someone who owns a 1986 MF diesel tractor that I run on heating oil ! Been running many years and it does what I need to do, so until then I will stay with what I have !

In my experience with "climate change", its cold in the winter and hot in the summer......it has never changed. It has always been cold in the winter and hot in the summer....go figure!
Another assumption being made by some is that "we", the American people, have NOT ever been lied to. People believe these so called "experts" as the Gospel.
When it is not in God's timing, you cannot force it. When it is in God's timing, you cannot stop it. Nothing Can Stop What Is Coming.....Nothing. Every lie will be revealed in God's timing. And that time, is closing in quickly!

Could the old tractor just have a poor exhaust? Headache is a sign of CO poisoning and 30 minutes is about right.
